Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Last night I returned home a very sad fan.

Another year has come to end again with a whimper.

Like so many previous years I started with enthusiasm and expected a reasonable improving performance on the previous year.

After some improved performances and a good draw I thought 2011 may get us very close to eighth spot.

But alas the all too often "Melbourne season" unfolded.

Poor results and numerous beltings followed by the coach being sacked

and then problems in the administration.

Once again the season ends with my club being the butt of jokes about "no bruise " football and down hill skiers etc.

The end of this misery looks no closer than the majority of the last 47 years.

I ask myself why do I go on?

I have no idea what the answer is.

I am too old to end my affair with the MFC but I am getting weaker.

Normally there is always next year but right now I am struggling with this concept.

What if this is my lot?

What if this is the best it gets at the MFC?

God I hope not but may be it is?

Perhaps the "Storm" is the solution. They seem to be every thing that the MFC is not!

Geez old mate, things can't be that desperate. Take a leaf out of Redleg's book and cling to the few glimmers of hope that remain from this dastardly season. If that doesn't work, have a glass or two of good red, and try again. We can't afford to lose you.

Just watched On the Couch and Footy Classified. Footy Classified and AFL 360 are my favourite shows. Loved the way both Garry and Thomas got stuck into Hutchy. Garry for Hutchy calling our Coach search "variable" when there was absolutely no basis for the statement and Thomas for Hutchy getting upset about his mate and drinking buddy being knocked by Thomas. It was great TV. From On the Couch I learnt that Roos really doesn't like the Dees. He knocks us at every chance and seems to have an agenda.

Two things I will say about Garry, he is clearly a very relaxed TV performer and he seems as though he is very committed to getting the club in the right hands in his stint.

Agree regarding Thomas and Lyon having a go at Hutchy. And Hutchy may want to have a swig of Demazin before going to air next time. Very nasily.

Regarding Roos, I agree with him on comments made regarding both Richmond and Melbourne's accountability and that good teams would just pick them apart at every opportunity.

Good morning DF

I think that 40 years of the same old stuff has finally worn me down.

I have decided to go on sunday to what may very well be my last match.

A loss to the GC will be the end for me I think.

It is just too bloody hard supporting this club.

There is no longer enough single malt or red on the planet to dull the pain.

On reflection Deeoldfart The problem is loosing!

I have written below elsewhere.

I think this covers it.

I am over 5 years of losing, Big Losses, small losses, record losses

Losses to the likes of Richmond.losses to Bloody Collingwood

Losses at ES, losses in Perth, Losses in Adelaide.

I am over Losses!

I do not care who the coach is or how we play.

I just want to WIN.

End of story

Don't we all ....... and we will on Sunday for starters!

I know that the patience of us old buggers has been sorely tested over the decades since '64, but I really think both of us will again taste the sweetness of ultimate success. Far from giving up on the work Baily did on our list, I'm convinced we have most of the ingredients in place. In 12 months time I think we will look back on season 2011, and in particular the Geelong loss, as the debacles we had to have. They will be the catalyst for some fundamental changes both on and off the field at our footy Club. These changes will be critical to our future success. It really sh*ts me that it had to happen this way, but the important thing is that it happened now, rather than the 'problems' (whatever they might be), festering away for the next two years when they would have undermined our chances of grasping the holy grail.

Hang in there old dee. Right now the glass might seem less than half full, but looks can be deceptive ...... it will be brimming over with sweet nectar before you and I are done!

You old timers could come into a racehorse with me. At least they win some of the time. I breed and race them. At the moment they are my only sporting enjoyment. I even have some Melbourne colored silks that I have never registered.

Remindes me of that old saying about a stopped watch.

At least it tells the right time twice a day.

An inaccurate one never has the right time.

When is the next one running just give me the nod.

No one else will know !

I promise.

I'm in the middle of reading "Mongrel Punts and Hard Ball Gets ... an A to Z of footy speak". It's a light and often humerous read. It contains a short section on 'Dyerisms'. The late ex-Tiger, Jack (Captain Blood) Dyer had a special way words. As someone I remember fondly from his days on World of Sport, the following quotes had me pizzing myself with laughter when I read them last night. They might also bring a smile to your face, especially if you have been around long enough to remember Jack. If not, they will at least be a change from banana smoothies.

"Things aren't the same now there are five teams in the four."

I won't say anything in case I say something."

"An Essendon supporter is a Collingwood supporter who can read and write."

"The only way to tackle Justin Madden. I don't know."

"He was tuckled strongly by Tack."

"Mark Lees long arms reaching up like giant testacles." (presumably meant to say tentacles)

"I want you to pair off in threes."

"That's the beauty of being small .... your hands are close to your feet."

More change at the club with the CEO CS to go once he finds another job. Reported tonight on 10 News.

This does not surprise me if true.

I was thinking this might happen once the dust settles in November.

Hope it doesn't affect the rumoured sponsorship.

Might be a face saving exercise to allow someone to seek alternative employment not due to a termination.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
