Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Don't really feel like researching the Russian Revolution (communists don't have enough blue in 'em)

Year 12 History Revolutions?

One of my favourite subjects at school. I killed it. Sadly I did not keep any of my work, it's not exactly relevant to what I'm doing now.

Always remember, communism is perfect in theory but fails in reality because the world is not made up of idealistic people, least of all those preaching communistic theories.

Just wondering about all the salivating over the possibility of getting Malthouse to coach us. I recall many years back when Ron Barassi returned and many thought we would get a premiership, it was an unmitigated disaster. I wonder if someone highly credentialled and liked and respected, like Mark Neeld, would be a better way to go.

I have considered the same thing.

I'm not sure what the answer to that question is though.

Personally, I think I'd be equally happy with both.

I usually tape the footy show and watch the news segment and then delete the rest. Yesterday they spruiked Damien Barrett unbelievably and said that he would have tons of news. The guy said nothing. He threw in that GWS was after Goldstein and then Andrew Swallow said it won't happen. That was it. This segment is now absolutely as bad as the rest of the show. I have a new nickname for Barrett now " the Recycler" as that is all he does, recycle old news and gets most of it wrong anyway. Hopeless.

Now Redleg for a person of your experience you surprise me.

Surely you know that the "media" is insatiable.

They have every day pages to fill, tv programs to fill

24 hour radio stations devoted to sport to fill.

So 80% of what we get is a small amount of information to which guess work is added.

On rare occasions they guess right.

The rest is BS

At the risk of being howled down, I started my 1000th diet today and had a protein drink for brekky. Guess what, it was banana flavour. Problem tonight, I am going out for dinner, might just order a banana split.

Been a good weekend so far, Carlton down to 5th and losing the double chance and possibly off to West Coast for a final. Tomorrow the Dees to bounce back with a more defence oriented game and less turnovers.

Dinner tonight at Cosi in South Yarra. Had veal osso buco, it was shithouse and inedible. Expensive as well and bloody noisy. Should have stayed home and had a jaffle.

You could easily have come to the Railway Hotel in Port Melbourne for an 800g steak topped off with sticky date pudding and a hot chocolate, watched the footy on the big screen and been involved in some scintillating conversation during which the name Tom S..., er Tom ... Tom Swift from West Coast Eagles was not mentioned on a single occasion.

Last night I returned home a very sad fan.

Another year has come to end again with a whimper.

Like so many previous years I started with enthusiasm and expected a reasonable improving performance on the previous year.

After some improved performances and a good draw I thought 2011 may get us very close to eighth spot.

But alas the all too often "Melbourne season" unfolded.

Poor results and numerous beltings followed by the coach being sacked

and then problems in the administration.

Once again the season ends with my club being the butt of jokes about "no bruise " football and down hill skiers etc.

The end of this misery looks no closer than the majority of the last 47 years.

I ask myself why do I go on?

I have no idea what the answer is.

I am too old to end my affair with the MFC but I am getting weaker.

Normally there is always next year but right now I am struggling with this concept.

What if this is my lot?

What if this is the best it gets at the MFC?

God I hope not but may be it is?

Perhaps the "Storm" is the solution.

They seem to be every thing that the MFC is not!

Couldn't agree more Old Dee. You just leave the ground with an empty feeling. I have a friend who is a Melbourne Heart Director and he has made me join as a member even though I don't like soccer. I went to a game last year and because I had no emotional attachment the 1 all draw ended up as a nice day out with a lovely lunch thrown in. Of course with the Dees it is completely different. I do see the future. I strongly believe in our list though not in every player on it and that what is missing is a hard edged, good coach, who is up with the modern game and is also innovative. We need more physical development in many players and obviously more game time as well. I will have to try and stay positive and hope that we appoint a good coach, sort out the admin problems whatever they are, hope for a result in trade week, start speculating on the draft again and then off to pre season training. Sounds good, but at the moment I fee like sh-t. Then again maybe that is the reult of the food I ate at a Lebanese restaurant that Whispering Jack dragged me to last night. We tried in vain to drown our sorrows while watching some amateur belly dancers perform. Perhaps I should have asked them if they play football.

I don't think I will make it to next sunday the prospect of going down to the GC is too horrible to contemplate.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
