Revenge is sweet

LOL

Indeed it will be

And it's a very good morning from Liverpool, England and I have some sensational news for followers of this thread.

We now have our own poet laureate in the form of one of the great female voices in contemporary Japanese literature, Tokyo's own (and now our own as well) Banana Yoshimoto . The author of a dozen novels including Kitchen and her latest, The Lake was featured in the British Airways in flight magazine which I read on the way from London Heathrow to Manchester last night.

The sun's about to rise in Liverpool, the place we're staying at is right on the Mersey River overlooking the port. Can't think of a better spot to discuss Japanese literature and the fascinating developments of Melbourne's trade week over breakfast with Redleg.

Appears you had upset someone the other day as he posted in the respect thread

Then he went on and reported Demonland for abuse

He was a very Strange Guy

Don't worry about him. He once aspired to be a great method actor and even got a role as a river person on a movie called "Deliverance". Last role he ever got but still lives it every day.

Meanwhile in Liverpool, I've made another startling discovery.

Nobody here has a Beatles haircut.

The MFC have offered Byrnes a two year extension.

Thought you would agree Redleg.

Bloody Eishold !!! lol

Old memories eh, Beebubsy? Thrashing the Hawks in about four consecutive grand finals might erade the pain ... :-)

Well gentlemen we have arrived at the end of the first week of trading

and I have an of offer to consider.

I have always said I want to be a one club guy and would love to be at the Dees in 2014.

Unfortunately the Hawks and Tigers have rejected me, they mumbled something about not needing 50 year losers.

North have reduced the size of the Dowry they require today.

So I have a serious decision to make in the next few days (Saints put in a late offer but I immediately rejected that crap).

Yesterday Redleg hosted a visit to the Beatles Museum and Magical Mystery Bus Tour of Liverpool to locations of note in the history of the Fab Four. The bus guide was a bloke called Jay Johnson, brother of Holly Johnson of the controversial 1980s Liverpudlian group Frankie Goes to Hollywood.

I must confess that while I was swept up by the Beatlemania phenomenon in the 1960s, the main focus of my musical tastes remained elsewhere (see avatar) but I still got a lot from the tour. Also, having studied the economic history of the region, I expected all northern England towns to be highly industrialised and ugly. Not so Liverpool. We visited some of the older areas of the city, but on the whole, I found it quite beautiful with lots of green areas (but no banana plantations in this neck of the world), interesting historic and modern buildings and friendly people.

Sadly, very few people with who to discuss Melbourne's recruiting developments (Redleg's otherwise heavily distracted at the moment by the forthcoming nuptials) although one of the guests is a Collingwood supporter who's working in London with the groom. This year's events and the loss of Daisy and Heater seem to have knocked the stuffing out of such supporters. The old arrogance is disappearing.

It appears that Melbourne's recruiting output in our absence has stalled. This needs to be fixed up to help with our breakfast conversations at the hotel.

The Americans here who do nothing but drone on about how the shutdown and debt ceiling issues are afflicting their country at the moment are amazed when I tell them that my football club back in Australia has been in that condition for seven years.

Seven Jack!

That is the latest incarnation.

I reckon we are the shadow organisation of the USA.

In the financial crap more often that out of it.

BB its working again

Now that Buddy has gone to Sydney will he be changing his name to Mate?

On that pay rate surely it would be Lord Buddy?

Now that Buddy has gone to Sydney will he be changing his name to Maaate?

As he is in the fashion industry it will be "darls" or "doll"or "lovee".

Get the job done over there(nuptials)and return refreshed and renewed to get the list sorted out.

Dont care how many poms yanks or refugees you source as long as they add balance to the list.

Await return with anticipation

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
