One of my favourite missives of yours was something like

"been eating a lot of this rice stuff-any nutritional value in it?'

I wanted to reply

"No you imbecile ,3 billion people have been faking it just to suck you in".

But I thought better of it .

hahaha i remember that day well. I needed potato very badly..

Thanks Nasher for your intrepid detective work in finding it even though, with its resurrection, the quality of this site is irrevocably damaged.

Disgraceful slander of a magnificent thread WJ, I will be speaking to Finkelstein QC on monday.

Thanks Nasher, for bringing back the thread. So many peoples' lives have now been enriched again.

Just to get this thread back on a serious note, here's the Monty Python dead parrot scene which I dedicate to our recently departed thread:-

And just like the forementioned parrot, this thread wouldnt zroom if you put 400,000 volts through it.

20,000 d/landers are now coming out of therapy

Not worried about Finkelstein QC. I had Caro's people at Fairfax Media legal everything I wrote before I posted.

Waiting for the spotlight to go back on us over the tanking inquisition.

A certainty I would think Redleg.

I think a lot of it heat has gone out of it now the draft has come and gone. The whinging 'aged' one was baying and lobbying for us to be hit with sanctions. More to the point in time for this years picking to be dented. It didnt transpire. I think the AFL has its agenda...and its timeline. I cant see us getting whacked now.

True, I was worried we would have everything thrown at us - kitchen sink and all - because of what happened to Carlton who were made an example of with salary cap breaching.

With most of the focus being on Adelaide/Tippett, the draft over and the latest ruling on Adelaide I have a good feeling about all of this.

... However I'm sure Caro can conjure up some she-devil magic and write some more bullsh1t

bb the "aged" one was asking questions about this sorry episode at the Adelaide press conference on Friday

She is far from finished on this subject.

I think the result from the AFL might come soon, from their view point best to get all this negative crap out of the way before Christmas

then 2013 can start with positive football stories.

I reckon we are going to cop a sanction.

Absolute guess. No first round pick in 2013.

Added the following from the President's latest report today.

"Finally, the AFL investigation continues. As I have stated previously, we will not comment until the investigation is complete, but I can assure you we will use every resource available to us to defend the integrity of the Melbourne Football Club in the strongest possible way."

That looks interesting, I wonder to what length we would go to?

Makes my heart glow

That would mean we would have to be found guilty of tanking old dee, for a sanction. It would also mean opening a can of worms including a lengthy legal stoush for the AFL including other clubs.

Maybe this thread should be referred to as the No Tanking, No BS thread.

That wouldn't worry me.

I am just in a relaxed position over the "inquisition" at the moment. Surely we are now into the final year or two of the "inquisition" and I can see it being over, certainly by the end of next year.

While the "inquisitors" still have to interview several boat people, the last 4 Australian Prime Ministers, Brynne Edelsten, Hamish and Andy, the South African Cricket team, Dick Smith, Kieran Perkins, Johnny Farnham, Tina Arena and Kylie Minogue, AC DC, Russell Crowe, Israel Folau, the Bananas in Pyjamas, Bindy Irwin, Hilary Clinton, Germaine Greer, Rolf Harris, Lou Richards and a host of other relevant people, it should be only a matter of time until it is concluded.

I have heard they are also examing the computer records of Microsoft and re reading the Australian Constitution to see if they have overlooked anything.

Yes it should all be finished soon.

The Hag can jump up and down; scream her self senseless ( a short journey id imagine ) and insert our name into every kindergarten pagent and shopping centre pantomime ; it wont matter didly as Andy and Adrian are determined to look the other way lest they espy her and turn to stone.

Someone ought to call the pound and taken to the Rspca. Hard on the innocents i concede.

You are correct it would mean we have been found guilty H_T

I have always though they would pin something on us.

They now need to IMO placate the likes of CW.

I am very happy to be wrong but I cannot see us getting off scot free.

Part of me wants the MFC to fight till the better end

and another part wants it too be over and if that involves a penality so be it.

The AFL doesnt wag when Kerro barks. If anything this is a bit of payback . They will all but ignore her.

This is simply the too hard basket for the AFL. Mind you they were the ones who weaved the basket in the first place. We, like many other clubs just borrowed the basket. it was after all left out for all and sundry to use.

You cant prosecute a driver if the camera is wonky. You cant penalise a club for employing a regimen based upon the Leagues own guidelines..

Salary breaches , the like of the Crows etc are clear and flagrant actions in defiance of clear cut rules. Weve done nothing of the sort. What are the rules weve supposedly broken and how did we explicitly and/or implicitly do so ? Hint...first find the rule. Good luck. ^_^

To sanction us is to ignite an explosion at the very core of the league and just watch the walls come tumbling down around the Emperor and his senators.

Call it what you like: impasse, stalemate, Mexican standoff . CW may well cry 'swindle' but i couldnt give a sh!t !! That kick of Jordan's must really irk her !! lol

That kick really irks me bb.

I went home filthy that night because we should have won.

The whole issue of trying to get extra picks annoyed me then

and still does to this minute.

2009 created a culture that exists to this day and it has not been a good one.

I hope we can banish it over the next few years

and in the future the MFC never ever again takes the field with anything less than a 100% win attitude from the players and FD.

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
