Hope you got on.

I actually don't bet anymore, been at least 10 years since last bet. The way I am going at the moment with the Dees if I had wanted to back Ethiopia, I would have probably backed Kenya by mistake.

Starting to look like the game against GWS at the G could be our big one. Not too many others where we can be optimistic.Perhaps the return game in Canberra and the GC one.

Thanks, leaving today. I think you posted earlier you are also going away, if so enjoy your trip.

Next week Redleg i have one more weekend of penance to do for my sins.

On Saturday I went to the football and had a very good time.

No I said Saturday went to see Uni Blacks play Oakleigh in the Amateurs.

Enjoyed it no end, you are close to the Game can hear the coaches address etc.

Game was played less like the AFL and more like the game of 15 years ago.

I could actually work out the game plan

Standard is not as good but it was played at a fairly fast rate.

Uni Blacks got up, had a couple of beers with a couple of mates on the way home.

All in all a good day.

Then I went yesterday. I cannot work out what they are trying to achieve with the usual result

Came home again with my guts torn out, with no hope in sight.

Not much more needs to be said.

But I am now off to the welcome relief of the USA for the next couple of weeks.

Do not have to endure the debacles of St Kilda, Geelong or Hawthorn.

I hope there is a MFC left when I get home.

Good luck I feel for you all,

Hi guys from a cruise ship in the Pacific about to cross the Panama Canal. Glad the boys had a real dip last night and that we are starting to gell a bit. With Chip out and Mitch and LJ it was a great effort. If we inject some speed and skill in the midfield at the draft or trading we will be a decent side next year. Keep well and back for the Sydney game. Love reading Demonland while away, I feel like I am there with you all.

Good morning Guys arrive back Saturday morning.

Any chance I could get off the plane to the news we lost by less than 5 goals?

I had this dream last night that we got done by 22 goals and Neeld was sacked on saturday morning.

G Lyon took over as no one else wanted the job.

Nothing unusual I guess for a dees supporter, the dreams of a GF victory no longer happen even in my dreams.

Big chance. We lost to saints the week before by a few goals prior to you getting back Sat morning.

Welcome back old dee.

I am in New York and arrive back before the Swans game next week and share your sentiments, Old Dee.

Thank you all for Demonland, it is a great read when you are away.

Do yourself a favour Redleg and extend ...

I cannot believe how calm I have been the last two weeks WJ.

There are however other reasons to come home.

I am busting to see my Grand Daughter

Me too and I have another grandchild on the way as does WJ.

I'll be in New York in September... at least I won't be missing out on any finals action ;-)

Oh, and I'm taking my 10 year old son to the Swans game next week... I'm a bit worried it may put him off the Dees for good if we don't start to lift.

Has he ever heard of the 5 year plan?

At age 10, 5 years is as good as a lifetime. Come to think of it, it feels like a lifetime that I've been waiting.

agreed. you'll just have to lie to him them. tell him it's a 2 year plan and we'll kill 'em next year.

then repeat for next 4 years

I have just had three weeks of watching my team play on AFL Live on a little screen in my hotel room and at Malpensa Airport. If you think watching it live at the ground is frustrating try yelling out in frustration amongst a couple of thousand italians or screaming at the walls and no one is listening (hopefully). The distance doesn't make it any easier to watch. Reading Demonland daily covered any info gaps but it did highlight those on here with obvious agendas.

Just seen the scores and read the game day posts. It still seems that what many of us have been saying for a long time is still the problem, poor skill and lack of pace. Some of that can be cured with a few good selections at the draft this year. Tinkering with the game plan will also help. Turnover of personnel will have to happen.

One thing that happened in the first game against the Lions is still occurring according to Luke Darcy, the opposition has players sitting 5-10 meters off the pack and it is consistently flicked out to one of them and then they are away and we are chasing. Why has that not been rectified?

Welcome back old dee.

Got off the plane H_T to be told by my daughter the usual applied.

After a nap I watched the casey game and enjoyed my second game of football for 2012.

MFC will be no fun in 2012 / 3 so I am concentrating on Casey and UNI blacks.

The last three weekends have convinced me there is life outside of the MFC.

Good for you. Expecting pleasant positive posts from you from here on in ;)

It will improve, don't be too dis-heartened.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
