Interesting article in this morning's Age.

I am now nominating our own dc to mount a campaign to have Borewood renamed Ballyshannassy.

I'll chip in 20 cents.

*ballyshanassy

thanks, uncle. always knew we could count on your manorial generosity. we want more than just a rename but, we want a un observer recognition acknowledging our unique culture.

did you know that ballyshanassy is a local aboriginal word meaning "meeting place"?

It is Irish, place of John O’Shanassy who was an Irish born settler and twice Victoria’s premier.

Thank you for that gem of cultural insight dc.

And ... speaking of sacred sites. I note that your old hunting ground, the Borewood Tennis Club, is now in Glen Iris!!

That must cut an old Borewoodian rather painfully .

Think I prefer the scones with cream and jam and a nice hot cup of tea to wash it all down.

Talking of scones has made me think about biscuits, strange isn't it?

My favourite biscuit is the Anzac.  Just love them.

I am sure we will soon here from the tim tam lovers.

Wonder if Uncle Bitters is an iced vo vo fan.

One has only so many hours in a day, so one's visits to No T$ No B$ are sporadic.

The new vistas each time are enchanting.

Though oddly disturbing in equal measure...

They can put a man on the moon etc...

In this age of technological advancement in every facet of life we have driverless cars, 3D printers, robots performing surgery, we’ve landed a vehicle on Mars, the list goes on, and on and on. Why, then, can we not have interviews on TV via satellite WITHOUT that annoying 5-second delay?!?! It’s 2024, not 1954. Surely some boffin or other can figure out a way to do it.

PS: my favourite biscuit is the Tim Tam, but not any old Tim Tam, I love the ‘Chewy Caramel’ variety, in particular.

When I see the word Mikado I think of Gilbert and Sullivan and of course Japan.

As the biscuit appears to be called Elite and Chocolate Mikado is the flavour, I wonder what other flavours they come in.

Silver Sake.  Strawberry Sashimi.  Neapolitan NiNgiri. Tangerine Tempura. Lemon Yellow Yakitori. Raspberry Ramen. Nectarine Nasu Dengaku.  Uncle's Udon.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
