BBO has never met a bottle of plonk he didn't like.

Let's just say -when the Romsey cellar is drained ,The Manor becomes a resort town.

i.e- he'll resort to anything.

I must say I had a hearty laugh when reading this morning's Herald Sin.

It seems there is a move afoot to have Warnie Knighted!

FMD! Sir Shane of House Bogan!

I reckon our own @Earl Hood who has been smoozing after a gong for years, would leap of the uppermost balcony of his Fitzroy Hipster Palace if it happened.

It's not only for services to cricket, but also his immense charity/poker work and donations to strippers. The Earl doesn't get one just for being a soft git.

I thought I would have got one for starting this thread.

Oh contrare my good Uncle, may Sir Shane get his knighthood for his trifling 700 plus test wickets, so be it to keep the masses amused. Please keep this information to yourself at all costs. I have been informed by a reliable source within the Palace that I will be recognised at some stage in the new year! The Royal whisper is that there are vacancies in the Royal Order of the Garter no less, members selected exclusively by Her Majesty, not the Parliamentary rabble ! Think about that for a moment, perhaps there will be a touch more respect in your tone from now on!

Naturally I wish you well in your lofty aspirations Earl.

However …… you must know.. there are  "rumours" going around on the social circuit wherein the  good name of your house is associated with certain …… err indelicacies.  Oddly, according to reliable sources,  "garters" seem to have played something of an and up and down role in proceedings.

I, off course, am not one to deal in such slanders but social media being what it is these days ….. who knows how high such tales reach?

Is that what the suppression orders in the media are about? The Age and The Hun have been making a big song and dance about it lately. Earl, your chances of entering St Peter's pearly gates are now zero.

I have just received a call from Government House, advising of my forthcoming knighthood and henceforth I will be known as Sir Redleg of Demonland.

Apparently her Majesty is a major fan of this thread and reads it to the corgis each night.

As modest as I can be, I must say it is long overdue.

PS. Earl already has his honour and that is as far as he is going, an Earl.

All I can say Mr Moons is that both you and Uncle are skirting with contempt by breach of a court order! And for the record if Mr Redleg is correct and a certain person does visit this site, it is all just false MeToo scuttlebutt from the 70’s no less! Who can remember what they did in the 70’s?

I can, I was trying to remember what I did in the 60’s.

Oh, don't be such a choirboy, Earl!

given mr hood already has half a knighthood, his easiest course of action would be to change his given name from earl to knight by deed poll..... problem solved...... knight hood

Having read the last page of this august thread I can only assume that a number of people have been into the Christmas cheer a little early. I only hope after an early start you all have the stamina to go the distance.

Stayed at a winery last night, I guess it shows.

Can I just say how inspiring it was to hear Her Majesty’s Christmas Day Message tonight! Such wisdom, such insight on life and world affairs by our Majesty, we are all truely blessed to be part of the Commonwealth.

Good question Neil. It used to show up at the bottom of , I think, the home page but it seems to have disappeared.

The answer to the meaning of life can be found on this thread ( if you know who to ask) so I'm sure your query (love that word) will be answered in the fullness of time.

Can't believe how quickly this year has gone. It seems like you have a banana smoothie on New Year's day and now it is nearly New Year's Eve.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
