Well I don't want to disclose my choice of outfit as there are petty souls out there who will rush of to imitate me.

However, dare  I ask Mable  Mable ,will you be wearing traditional Cameroonian attire? It is rather fetching I must say!

No Bitters all on Demonland would like to know your attire. Maple might be very fetching but I suspect your get up promises to be outlandish. Despite your modesty I suspect you would like all the attention particularly from the Demon Damsels!

They couldn't imitate you if they tried Uncle Bitter.

As for my attire, I was going to wear something a tad more inconspicuous.

I suppose we have a bit in common Ernie - attracted the sheilas, adventurers, second rate writers - but at least I haven't topped myself!!

I'll be attending the game. After all it is part of my annual ritual to see how far away I am from the ground before I spot your outlandish attire.

By the by, what should I be looking out for on Saturday?

Maple think of the scene from Pricilla Queen of the Desert with flowing robes on top of a bus and you'll get an idea of Bitter's entry to the MCG on Saturday. Always the showman, unfortunately.

Will you be sporting the depressive maths teacher look with ugly colourful jumper mismatched with slack, long sock and sandals or maybe you'll just run with the reclusive snowdropper turtle neck? I never know with you.

Ill be wearing plaid and stripes as usual.

I was planning to go relatively incognito. Should either you or Bitters get up to your usual shenanigans, I want to be able to make a quick getaway by blending into the crowd should the need arise.

i'll be turning up in my fred perry tennis whites. that way i won't need to get changed before attending the glen iris ladies tennis gala evening later. i like to get off to an early start these days.

I'll leave the response to this to the likes of Bitter, Biff, and Moonie.

Arrgh Biffen - back from the dead apparently! Rumour has it that as a result of the Gat closing you are opening a house of ill repute  new business venture near a major regional centre. Is this true? Could you possibly survive the aroma of gum trees?

still deciding whether to wear the striped tennis blazer or the spiffy cable knit sweater with the red'n'blue striped collar that one of the old dears knitted for me

Why not double your chances and wear both?

now mable, really, where is your sense of class. the cable knit is far too bulky to wear both, and i suspect, even on its own, too stifling for a pleasant autumnal day in melburnia, so the blazer it is, sans cravat

please, bbo, spare me the adulation and fawning, it doesn't befit my modesty

Going with the fashion forward approach, I see. Are you sure the Glen Iris ladies can handle your sense of adventure DC?

after i flatter them and purloin their glasses, mable, they are putty in my hands. i would never attempt bbo's adventurous approach however. it might work in frontier villages like romsey but not with glen iris gals.

Are you sure you really want Uncle Bitter to tell us all what he finds spine-tingling? We may not be able to recover from the mental image it gives us.

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
