Have a great trip, Earl. It seems a bit ironic to have a bastion of the upper class such as yourself chosen to lead negotiation with the glorious revolutionaries, but I guess that should show them what they are missing. Just don't bring back too many cigars to pass around in the Long Room over port ... :)

Are you coming tuesday to our post draft discussion meal?

Anyone else is welcome if you post reply today or tomorrow.

6-6.30 PM start Japanese all you can eat in Caulfield.

I will book by thursday.

Today and 3 more to the Rookie Draft.

Happy Draft Day guys!

Got to laugh. Publicity about Stevie J finishing 3rd in a 3km time trial up at the Giants....for the older players....lol. There's a field of 5 or so.

More likely three!

I have had a sobering 36 hours an old friend died Sunday night and all of a sudden who the MFC picked in the draft seemed of little consequence.

However for the living life goes on.

I decided this morning it is now more important to chose well Mr. Taylor.

I need a big improvement from the Dees over the next four years.

We need to be a power by 2020.

Sincere condolences.

We need our footy as a distraction from the real world.

Agree Mr Leg but there have been a number of years in the last decade that the real world was a handy distraction from the Footy.

Not however 2016 we are all going to enjoy our ten wins heading to the finals in 2017.

Go Dees

Just remember you heard it from me first DF

wonder why it is so quiet here

place seems deserted

Yes dc after all the discussion over the last 6 weeks it is all over.

The FD obviously has a big opinion of Oliver we traded away next years first pick to ensure we got him.

Still next years first pick will be around 16 so no big loss I guess.

OD. You are either - (1) an imposter, as dc suggests. (2) On drugs (3) Drinking free Pinot at your sister's winery. Which will [censored] me off grandly as, apparently, Australia Post failed to deliver my invite,

Dc and Bbo I predicted at this time last year we still had a poor list and would win 6-8 games in 2015 but with more changes at the end of the year we would be well placed for 2016.

Staying with statement 2016 is the start of big years for the Dees.

As for the Pinot Bbo I told you all gone and there will be no 2015 vintage ( bloody Wasps ) even I cannot get a bottle now.

Yes, I will be there for the Demonland Draft Discussion Dinner (is there a countdown for that?). More like 6.30 for me than 6.00 though.

How about we arrange to sit in a group for our next final, whenever that is? Then we will be able to laugh about all those bad years (2013, 2012, 2009, 2008, I'll stop there :) )

Yeah, we could be like those 2 old blokes in the theatre box seat at the Muppett Show, blankets over the legs, teeth falling out when we yell out "well played, number nine".

I was thinking more like yelling "Take that curse of Norm Smith!" when Weideman kicks the winning goal after the siren in the GF ...

Ok.

What not a countdown till the first game of 2016?

OD you should not talk about such things at this time of the season because our team remains undefeated and we still have hope.

Sad thing is I was there at our last finals game back in 2006.

The wheel is turning DF 10 wins this year followed by 16 in 2017 and a finals appearance.

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • PREGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

With their season all over bar the shouting the Demons head back on the road for the third week in a row as they return to Adelaide to take on the Crows. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
