Gameday - Melbourne v St Kilda

... or our delivery to the forward line.

Yes, more to the point. Our F50 entries have been much more hopeful than planned. Please don't take this as defending Newton either.

Loving Jack Watts' game. You can see his confidence rising as a player. Getting a bit of a strut up and taking blokes on. Go Jack!

On the other hand, Aaron Davey is less than a shadow of the player he once was. Looks timid and uncertain. Career in the balance and should get the axe on present form regardless of the big bucks he's on.

Jordan Gysberts very impressive.

Wonder if we can trade Davey, seems to have lost any real value being out there in red and blue.

What was that Aaron about no one giving less than a 100% ??? Hmmm ?

A shadow of his former brilliance.

Seems ability runs inversely to paycheck

We are missing Russian and Trenners, BIG TIME.

We would be a better team with Russian, Trengove, Scully, Grimes, Garland, Bail... even Wona and Bennel

Premiership Quarter enough said. We've played one all year. This needs to be our second.

This team is going to be the death of me.

Fair to say that Juice is no best 22 material, although that doesn't [censored] me off nearly as much as Davey's and Jurrah's laziness.

Evans has done some good things and McKenzie's sheer presence makes us tougher.

Watts and Gysberts my shinning lights.

Similar thoughts there RR lol beat me to it :)

Same as Goddard. Both player's will bounce back. Flash will surely lift in the second half of the season.

Just watching the game delayed on TV now. Around 4.45 left in the first quarter, Watts puts on the speed and slips between two Saints players closing in. Other players (especially at his height) wouldn't have been able to do that. Love it !

Don't know what his currency would be but I think he's cooked as a Melbourne player.

I'd trade him.

Charlie Watts is a beauty...he now believes it at top level.

Showing leadership qualities today.

i would give him 1-2 games at Casey first. See if that "wakes" him up. But we cannot have senior players in the side as passengers.

newton needs to go - how many years do we put up with his crap??????????????????????????????????????????????/

go watts and gys...

davey is off to casey

Aaron Davey MUST be dropped next week.....Leader my ass

Davey off to GWS

davey has had a horrid year

contract has screwed him

jurrah has been woeful today

no chance of Davey getting involved in halftime scuffle... FMD he is weak

Kosi is far worse than any player on the ground

Can't imagine the abuse he would cop if he played with us

Kosi & Newton cancel each other out. It's 20 vs 20.

Notwithstanding the pathetic efforts of Davey and Newtown, this has been a promising effort thus far.

Jordan Gysberts makes me smile. Michael Evans looks to have a lot to work with.

cripps goals. oh oh

where's the spark going to come from?

He is certainly not a Defender. That is for sure.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
