Take a breath DC not sure why we bothered tonight unless there is new evidence these things never fly

Trengove has a three week rest end of story.

I can't shake it old dee

this has really got up my jaxi

Hopefully the boys will be as mad as hell and pity those Norf players who will feel the sting of the demon tail

GO YOU MIGHTY DEEs, take the game to a new high for Jack Trengove

(that better old dee B) ?)

It's funny hearing all of the anti-Bate sentiment here, particularly as the panel on Fox's AFL Teams show were unanimous in their disbelief that he could be dropped as he was responsible in a large part for our successful forward thrusts and pressure. Obviously they are seeing something that no-one here seems to be seeing, but it is interesting none-the-less. And as for all of this putting of the boot into Bennell... I still think he offers a lot to this team... I really do not understand why so many have it in for him.

How does it feel this morning DC?

I am almost over it.

Looking forward to Saturday.

When picking a side you need to look at match ups. Bartram will go to Brent Harvey, who then gets Thomas, I would of thought Bennell was a pretty good match up for him. You would bring in Jetta to replace Trengove, he should start as a sub.

Simple explanation........posters have fierce desire to win, and some have an interesting understanding of footy.....as stated before unless a player has 40 possies, 10 tackles, 15 contested marks and looks good in the post game interview 'they are a spud'.....Bate did his role, assume this week it is matchups, and he may even be back in!!

Tapscott ? Frawley ?

Good to see we are getting players back at Casey this weekend.

Max Gawn has gone into first ruck in casey seniors (from the reserves); Rob Campbell is playing in Casey reserves in a practice match against Cranbourne in his first game back this year (the reserves have a bye); and Jordie MacKenzie returns to Casey seniors as ruck-rover with Gawn which could indicate that the Demons are confident about his fitness.

I predict Jordie will be back in the seniors next week against the Saints if he shows reasonable form this weekend; Campbell will play in Casey Seniors next week and if he has reasonable form will come into the Demon side against Carlton the following week. If Max Gawn has two good games over the next two weeks in the ones, then he may well come into consideration also for the clash with the Blues when they are likely to have both Warnock and Krestser available. This means we could have for that game Gawn,Campbell and Martin in the team which would be VERY interesting.

better make that10-non-excessive-force tackles......

Perhaps then you can explain for me why the media pundits unanimously expressed surprise it his omission, stating he was one of the main reasons we had so many entries into the forward line. And please don't use the old "what would they know?" chestnut.

Tapscott ? Frawley ?

I think Thomas may be to quick for Tapscott and we need him to be our attacking defender, we want the ball in his hands of half back, Frawley could but I think we will need him to play on a tall, more likely Aaron Edwards. Bennell has all the attributes to match up well on Thomas.

hardtack i have no idea what your reply has to do with my comment

my comment was a frivolous remark about the "new" status of tackling, nothing else

your reply "seems" to have something to do with bate

you need to get your sarcasm monitor or eyesight looked at

Yep... eyesight plus the fact that bate seems to be the whipping boy, so my perception monitor was out of whack (I took it to be a reference to Bate's worth as a tackler) - my apologies :-)

Whilst DC's post had nothing to do with Bate. I find your statement regarding "media pundits unanimously expressed surprise at his omission" a little unusual...........maybe I haven't read enough articles.

Sorry, I should have been more specific and repeated my earlier comment on the first page... it was the entire panel of the AFL Teams show on Foxtel.

Well that settles it...

I have defended Bate on a number of occasions from unfair criticism and selective memory.

But he wasn't great on Sunday and Newton coming in means that our forward line would be too slow and top heavy with Newton and Bate in there at various times.

There are too many people on here looking at panels on Fox to support their views and it isn't healthy.

They are idiots on individual teams - they 'skim read' while we 'delve into the minutiae' when it comes to the Dees.

They are in a position where they take a much broader view and do not have the blinkers on that many of us do - I do not dismiss their comments summarily simply because they are "Fox commentators" - I'm not saying you do this, but I find it funny that often people in these forums (Demonland and Demonology) will respect their views when they are positive or supportive of the MFC, yet as soon as they make a criticism, they are suddenly all idiots who have no clue.

In this particular instance, what drew my attention to their comment was the fact that they were all in agreement, which is a very rare thing.

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
