Todd knows the Melbourne Culture of mediocrity over the years. I really think we need a hardened professional who demands perfection and has experienced a premiership and other clubs systems and Todd ticks these boxes. Bailey has had three years to get the culture right and hasnt and this is shown by our starts, inconsistency and hardness at the footy. Look at what Roos did at Sydney and Malthouse did at the Pies with young lists and now look at Essendon and West Coast and there young players who want to die for their coach. None of our players want to die for Bailey.

We have a recent history of softness and mediocrity and this revolves around the players too with blokes like Bruce, Breen, Yze, Davey etc never workin hard enough to go from good players to superstars. When was our last superstar?

Anyhow im throwing it out there and im for it

Bailey out and Viney in

I knew if i said Todd Viney enough that a thread would pop up :)

And I agree..

I agree too, but not necessarily for next year. Look at Port, Primus had some good success last year and they gave him a contract, and since then they've been largely shite. We still need a TOPLINE coach next year.

When was the last time a player was coached by his father in the AFL?

Pagan coached his son at the blues didn't he?

Don't think his son was too good though.

Posted

I'd always worry about conflict of interests with a father coaching a son, and any potential fallout if Jack ends up being a gun, and if we have to sack his old man.

Not the same kettle of fish, but Frank Lampard put in a transfer request from West Ham in the EPL, when they sacked his father.

Is Viney the best person in coaching at the moment?

If not, who is?

Now Mr. Schwab go and get him.

Posted

Since Viney's return the teams perfomance has wilted...He spends match days in the coaches box giving and taking suggestions for moves......while Bailey is on the ground instructing the players.

So maybe Viney is the problem?

Yes...this is not the time for a favourite son. I would love Todd to coach, but is he the right man to do it now?

We need to find the Best we can..I still believe in our list very much. But the right Person has to ignite them.

The search starts now.

Don't worry he has the Age delivered. Didn't bailey find out about the job in the paper?

The story is told that when Dick Pratt got to Carlton, he asked the board and FD "who is the best CEO?" People began answering with "the best CEO available is..." and at this point Pratt interrupted, saying "No, not who is AVAILABLE, but who is the BEST?." the answer came = Greg Swan. Pratt said "Then go and get him."

If we replace Bailey, it cannot be any less than the best person. I don't care if is Todd Viney, Leigh Matthews, Malthouse, Roos, Hardwick, the Pope or Prince William. Just get the best. No more mediocrity especially not when appointing a coach.

Absolutely agreed....i would donate to a Coaches Fund to help that happen. I want to see my Club become a power again, and not just for 2 seasons.

We have dug deep once to save this Club, now we need to find the right Generals to run the FD.

Just Do it.

Todd is hard and what the club needs. He had a better fend off than Dustin Martin........

He knows the mediocrity and would absolutely hate our intensity at the footy

PLEASE GET TODD

bye bye Bailey

So true Maldonboy. Maybe we do need a Dick Pratt, maybe not. What we do need is an unflinching campaign to find THE BEST coach. I couldn't care less if it were to be Bailey (although I'm on record a million times since 1st qtr last night saying I don't think he is). JUST GET THE BEST.

Just because Todd had a better fend off than Dustin Martin doesn't mean he is the best coach going around. I am not saying he isn't, but I don't want them to make any quick, rash decisions. Aside from getting rid of Bailey that is :)

Matthews, Roos and Bomba. Next Malthouse, Sheedy, Worsfold, next Craig,,,,

I've been saying for 2 or 3 seasons that Worsfold and eagles were lying down. Harvesting the draft. I don't think people wanted to believe they were underperforming, but rather preferred to think they were just shyte. They Are Not.

What about Todd's ex boss at Hawthorn - Alistair Clarkson? Ex Melbourne player, still young and has the runs on the board!

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc.
