Col Garland

Stupid SEN gave me this.... "Col Garland with a medial ligament". That's it.

SEN are dead to me with their crap reporting. That could bloody well mean anything! :(

Edit: should note that I saw him jumping up and down on the boundary and he walked unaided on the field after the game. Still could mean anything.

Hope he is ok, he fights so hard, Buddy kicked 2.6 last week against Davis from Adelaide and everyone lauded him. We gave over 70 I50s away and Buddy kicked 2.4.

After Lance Franklin had out-marked Colin Garland in a wrestle, Brad "the Genius" Johnson goes " Buddy would win 9 out of 10 of those."

I'm like "Hey doofus, there's been three of those so far, and that's the first one he's won. Looks more like 3 out of 10 of those to me."

In other words, Judy's a gun and I hope he's okay.

EDIT: Don't you hate it when the commentators go "so-and-so's coming off with a knee." I would hope that everyone comes off with two knees. You'd think it'd be unlikely that they'd lose one while playing.

Looked to me like he rolled his ankle, but I'm not sure.

I did notice at one stage late in the 3rd when he ran towards the bench, labouring to get there... then was waved back onto the field because the guys on the bench were still recovering and none were ready to replace him.

He stayed out there another few minutes and looked completely cooked when he did run off.

I'm pretty sure his fatigue could easily have contributed to the injury.

I also think the rest of our players were exhausted, and it might take a decent period of adjustment before we learn to cope with the new loads on players.

With the new interchange rules, we may even find our gameplan and the way we defend will need to change, as we seem to be running ourselves ragged well before the game is near it's conclusion.

I also saw Jetta and (iirc) Martin cramping late against the swans.

There is a large element of "suck it and see" with the changes; the way we manage loads will evolve over time, but as yet it is the great unknown.

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
