TBH Macca, I thought the horrendous penalty for hitting the kicker was completely wrong. No way was that worth more than a 5yrd penalty, but also tbh if you have the. At 4/21, don’t go near the kicker!!!

Nah I thought it was a 15 yard penalty Gorg despite the barracking by the commentators.  No excuses,  none.   You never give the ref a chance to give a penalty by running into the kicker.

We did well to stay with the Pats for as long as we did but we had our chances ... the fumble meant the game was over.  The Pats coverage on our wide receivers was as good as I have seen.  They are as good as ever.

As for your Rams,  the Saints now have the tiebreak advantage when we get to the playoffs ... you'll possibly need to 'win-out' to avoid another trip to New Orleans.  14-2 probably wins the conference but it is early doors.

Saints have to play panthers twice, falcons, Steelers and eagles which might go in our favour

Superior teams keep winning or find a way to win ... the Saints have hit a rich vein of form and with Brees at the helm,  they'll be hard to beat for any opposition.

Of course, doesn’t hurt to have four of our biggest threats play each other ?

I think the frustration stems from we had a great D for years so I’m use to them making those tackles etc, and that is the problem it’s things that should be easily fixed. I reckon we stuck the first tackle less than 50% of the time.

Yeah I get that. It seems to come in waves for the Eagles. For a couple of years they'll be sticking everything, then for a couple of years you'll get crappy secondary players who go to water...

Still feels to me like you've got it where it counts. I never appreciated until I saw Cox play, and Donald a bit closer, how central a great DT is to an overall defense. And they are great.

Donald is double teamed 70% of the time which means Suh and Brockers and mates should be getting much better at getting through but they haven’t been Suh and Peters have been pretty average, not bad, but not near their talent capabilities.

I was always concerned for Suh and what he could produce with another bull in the paddock. Peters tho... no excuses.

As you've stated here,  the Rams defense has been shown up so you need to take care of your own destiny ... vs KC,  @ Chicago & vs Philadelphia won't be easy and even 1 loss against any of those teams serves as a double-loss when in pursuit of the 1 seed up against the Saints.

And the 1 seed is super-important with a SB spot on the line.  As an example,  the Eagles having the 1 seed last season helped them and Foles to a very large degree as it did the Pats up against the Steelers.

You're in new ground Gorg after being out of it for so many years

How 'bout those Cowboys!  Not.

Pressure has to come onto their coach & QB now ... the NFC East is up for grabs but Dallas are going backwards at a rate of knots.

Initially I thought the same thing, just a running into the kicker penalty which would be 5 yards. The issue with this one is he makes contact with the punter’s planted leg.

Nice one ‘boys. *Clap...clap...clap*

Mariota can be alright when he has time, most qbs can be but he made the throws when it counted. Their interior line was effective too opening up some good running lanes through the middle.

Lee injured again.

How does McCartney? GB should be much better over the last few years. How did Fisher last as long as he did?

NFL keeps some coaches much longer than they should and others get chopped much earlier than realistic.

Jerruh must be saving $$ by capturing the energy generated by the constant clapping to power the stadium.

Steelers get it done. I’ll say it again, this Pittsburgh D has pass rush in them, a lot of questions going in but they  nailed it today with 5 sacks.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
