@MaccaI’m going out on a limb and saying Pats won’t make the SB!!!

Alright its been a couple of years for me of not competing in this at least!
Heres my crack at week 1:

Jags, Titans, Rams

Week 1 has to be a bit of a crapshoot doesnt it? NFL preseason games are so mickey mouse they make the NAB Cup look like the Olympics!

Count me in again

Simple and fun comp this. As well as being a lot more challenging than it looks to pick up points. Get on board !

Steelers

Titans

Bengals

AFC:

East: Patriots

North: Steelers

South: Texans

West: Chargers

Wild Cards: Chiefs and Jaguars

NFC:

East: Giants

North: Vikings

South: Saints

West: Rams

Wild Cards: Seahawks and Packers

Man, AFC was way easier than NFC. Steelers and Pats to go all the way to championship game. Found it tough to pick Texans and Chargers to win their divisions, but Chiefs and Jags will only just get pipped and will play Wild Card games.

NFC is amazing this year. How one earth did I not pick Falcons, Panthers and Eagles? Have to pick Vikings (Best D in the NFC IMO), Saints were great last year and deserved to go further. Rams are the breakout superstars of the comp... EVERYONE is picking Eagles, but at least early on they are lacking pretty much everywhere on offense. The season will get away from them early and they'll be playing catch up all year. Giants will be the shock winner of a meh NFC East. Wilson and Rodgers will see their teams through messy rosters. Eagles couldn't beat Seahawks last year. Wilson will win league MVP.

Rams

Steelers

Dallas

8 participants so far with a few to come ... I might put all the tips together in one post so people can compare tips whilst also making it easier for me to tally them all up on a Tuesday or Wednesday.

You won't see your avatar name on the leaderboard until you get off the mark although those on zero points will be lumped together as 'The Usual Suspects' or suchlike

Anyway,  thanks for the response and good luck to all.

Rams

Bengals

Titans

Would have gone Steelers but want to see the Browns win.

I'll try to join this year - I regularly miss a week or two early and then fall behind/drop out, but I'll try to keep up this time!

Titans, Steelers, Rams

Guess the Lines Week 1 With Cousin Sal | The Bill Simmons Podcast

Super-Friday coming up with the Falcons @ Eagles as an ideal lead in to the Demons finals match against the Cats.  NFL & Demons for at least one week and if we prevail we'll do it all again Friday week with another NFL/Demons double.

Anyway,  Atlanta has been touted as a team that can contend whilst Foles could well start off where he left off and win again.  I fancy the Eagles but it could be close.  Really good pipe-opener,  all the same.

11 in the comp with maybe 1 or 2 more to come.  Could get real interesting with a full crew going at it.  Hope all your teams win and most importantly,  go the mighty Demons!

Well we didn’t get Mack... pity. Just imagine him on our team... could add Watts too ?

Cameron Johnston first 2 punts: 65 yards and 56 yards. 60.5 average. Not a bad start.

Hardly a classic, but I'll take it. Soft 3 weeks now then the scary stuff starts.

Just got to the end of the game ... average/ordinary affair to be honest - a fizzer.

Ryan seemed out of it in terms of a winning throw  at the death - 'rust' all round with 1 team coming out on top.  Not sure we learned a lot Dappa,  if anything.

Yup,. Came away from it at first relieved for the win, and impressed by the D.... but on reflection (especially after an unforgettable final tonight) it really was a bad team beating up on a worse team. Lots of work to do.

So often happens - hype exceeds the actuality.  Both teams looked out of sorts although the Philly special was a highlight.

Season proper will deliver though - it always does.  When a whole bunch of games played at the same time happens,  the drama eventuates.

I can't wait to watch the remaining week 1 games. Some teams I wanna get around like Rams, Pack etc... Never mind today's schlockfest.

@JV7  would have to be disappointed even though the win was there for the taking at the death.

As for the Eagles,  as Barassi once said when he coached us,  a win is a win is a win.  Bank the win and go to Tampa and hopefully advance to 2 & 0.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.

  • POSTGAME: North Melbourne

The Demons are finally back at the MCG and finally back on the winners list as they continually chipped away at a spirited Kangaroos side eventually breaking their backs and opening the floodgates to run out winners by 6 goals.
