Maybe because negotiations are stalling, the GC may not be offering Bruce exactly what he wants and that may not be too different to what Melbourne are offering. therefore, after 2pm today, if they haven't signed him up, they still have to possibility of the remainder of trade week.

I do believe they have traded a pick already (in the Brennan deal I think - not sure if he was uncontracted or not).

From previous posts you have on this matter, it's obvious that you're a Bruce lover, I'm not knocking that, but I replied to a post stating facts, so that people understand how this CAN unfold, not based on a posters personal opinion. I'm not saying it will happen, I'm saying it CAN happen.

Come to think of it, isn't Brennan still contracted ? Fevola looks like staying and they have to free up their cap somehow. Bruce is an uncontracted player is what I'm getting at, it adds up.

Listening to trade radio I gathered Brennan has definitely gone to Gc

Brennan is not in uncontracted category. 1/club and that was Rishcitelli (I know, spelling)

Really? It Obvious? Don't know where you got that from. I'm neither a lover nor hater for the record. Cam has his good points and his not so good points. He has given good service to the club.

It could be for a pick though, and not be one of the two "uncontracted players" they are allowed.

Therefore deepthroats mail could be right. The two could well be Fraser & Bruce.

edit: maybe not, it's past 2pm and haven't heard anything....stay tuned.

That wasn't the point of my thread. As previously informed, I stated that so that people that aren't up to speed as much as others can understand the whole story, nbot just that of someone who thinks they know it all.

So, if Brennan was contracted, does that mean they only have picked up 7 uncontracted players? Does this then mean they are 1 short of the 8 that they "wanted"?

He has given us good service, but we are a professional football club, not an RSL.

For GC to get Brennan they have to trade.

As far as I can see they can trade for him until monday if they wish

Yes, this is correct, however hasn't physically been signed off yet.

The absolute chaos at the Brisbane Lions continues...

In the last two years they have lost:

Bradshaw

Henderson

Rischitelli

Brennan

Johnstone

Sherman (is leaving)

Clark (maybe)

Sh!t that's a win for the Lions. Brennan's played one good game his whole career and they get pick 5 out of it. Wow.

Whilst top 5 is better than top 10, they only move up 5 places for Brennan.

They essentially get nothing, other than a slightly better choice.

Of course, it could mean the difference between a Luke Hodge and a Dal Santo.

Both good players, but one is a cut above.

Lions not really getting much in this trade, for my money.

They're also getting Collingwood's compo pick for Fraser, which the Pies are using for Krakouer (as far as I'm aware)

So it's up to the AFL which pick they'll get on top of pick 5.

(It is Hutchy though, so this may turn out to be completely wrong.)

I suppose.

I'd take an upgrade like that though, especially in the top 10.

That's better. I was going to say a win for the Lions earlier, now it's more GC.

Deeluded would hate this deal from a Brisbane POV.

Well its now past 2pm and no word on Bruce as an uncontracted GC signing

Does this mean Bruce is re-signing with MFC?

No need to repeat, but thanks. I am not disputing the fact that Cam is overseas, just that his contract negotiations have been at a stalemate for some time and he has been overeas for at most a few days. There are clearly other issues involved.

I don't think there are any other issues. We have offered him a one year contract- he wants two- no other club seems to want him and if that is the case he accepts one or retires. To me it is as simple as that- and it doesn't matter if he is o/s or not..

Yeah, can't see the problem. A mobile phone call makes no difference where he is

You would have to be joking--he is a current MFC player,a vice captain whom is currently contracted till end of October and you treat a current player whom has played 224 gameswith a track record of AFL Awards: International Rules Series 2002, 2004

Rising Star Nominee 2000Club Awards: Best and fairest 2008

2nd best and fairest 2002, 2006

3rd best and fairest 2009

Best Team Player 2002

Best Clubman 2003 Brownlow Votes: 42

And still came 6th in our best & fairest this year.

2010 Keith ‘Bluey’ Truscott Memorial Trophy

1 - Brad Green (295)2 - James Frawley (277)3 - Mark Jamar (231)4 - Aaron Davey (194)5 - Colin Sylvia (170)6 - Cameron Bruce (168)7 - Brent Moloney (166)8 - Tom Scully (154)9 - Colin Garland, James McDonald (149)10 - Jordie McKenzie (148)

Agent orange you are the joke- you should have your mouth washed out with agent orange for saying [censored] HIM OFF- we should not tolerate posters lke you inasulting players like this.

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

Saturday’s election night game in Perth between the West Coast Eagles and Melbourne represents 18th vs 15th which makes it a tough decision as to which party to favour. The Eagles have yet to break the ice under their new coach in Andrew McQualter who is the second understudy in a row to confront Demon Coach Simon Goodwin who was also winless until a fortnight ago. On that basis, many punters might be considering to go with the donkey vote but I’ve been assigned with the task of helping readers to come to a considered opinion on this matter of vital importance across the nation. It was almost a year ago that I wrote a preview here of the Demons’ away game against the Eagles (under the name William from Waalitj because it was Indigenous Round).  I issued a warning that it was a danger game, based on my local knowledge that the home team were no longer easybeats and that they possessed a wunderkind generational player in Harley Reid who was capable of producing stellar performances playing among men a decade and more older than he.  At the time, the Eagles already had two wins off the back of a couple of the young man’s masterclasses and they had recently given the Bombers a scare straight after their Anzac Day blockbuster draw against the then reigning premiers.

  • NON-MFC: Round 08

Round 08 of the 2025 AFL Season kicks off on Thursday with a must-win game for the Bombers to stay in touch with the top eight, while the struggling Roos seek a morale-boosting upset. Friday sees the Saints desperate for a win as well if they are to stay in finals contention and their opponents the Dockers will be eager to crack in to the Top 8 with a win on the road. Saturday kicks off with a pivotal clash for both sides asthe Bulldogs look to solidify their top-eight spot, while Port seeks to shake their pretender tag. Then the Crows will be looking to steady their topsy turvy season against a resurgent Blues looking to make it 4 wins on the trot. On Election Night a Blockbuster will see the ladder-leading Pies take on the Cats, who are keen to bounce back after a narrow loss. On Sunday the Sydney Derby promises fireworks as the Giants aim to cement their top-eight status, while the Swans fight to keep their season alive. The Hawks, celebrating their centenary, will be looking to easily account for the Tigers who are desperate to halt their slide. The Round concludes on Sunday Night with a top end of the table QClash with significant ladder implications; both Queensland teams are in scintillating form. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
