He still can play at AFL level quite nicely. Do you think if a team like Saints offered him a slot he'd go for it? (Some one closer to a flag) And I suppose the other question do you think another team would go for him? I personally believe there are clubs out there that could use junior for the next year or 2... I suppose if anything injury factor could be a concern for some

Luke Ball couldn't get a game with them, Junior's disposal is just as iffy, plus playing on Etirock every week would take it's toll.

Maybe Sydney could use him to replace Kirky?

The chances of another club chasing a 34yo mid are pretty much zero. He's not a Barry Hall type who will provide the last ingredient for a flag aspirant, most of the top 4 or 5 would consider their midfields a real strength. And I doubt Junior would put his hand up anyway.

Nope. Macca only had one year left in him anyway. Why uproot your family for a non contender for 1 season?

Macca will find work quickly, he is a pretty intelligent guy.

I'm a believer that he didn't have one year left in him. He's no Robert Harvey or Michael Tuck, he was slowing down toward the end of the season, and the amount of time it took him to get over his injuries was alarming. Let's face it, how many more weeks was Riewoldt out for with his hammy that he had surgery on, compared to Junior who "only" tore it?

The best and most qualified people to know if he has/had one more year left in him are the Football Dept. They have made minimal errors of judgement in the past 3 years, so I put 100% trust in them. The other thing with Junior playing on in 2011 (especially at Melbourne) would be that he would put our development back 1 year. While that seems harsh considering he was only taking up one spot on list, what it does mean is that Jordie gets promoted off the rookie list, allowing us to replace him on the rookie list. No-one in here would have wanted to see Jnr play a bulk amount of his games at Casey, so the best decision was made.

As someone said earlier, he is 34, no team will pick him up.

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval.     With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals.
