When i left to study in LA in December for a year i had regrets leaving behind a tattering MFC, given the heartbreaking 2007-2009 seasons and the exciting prospect of the future. To listen to the games i have to stream from SEN, to watch the games (3 days delayed) i pay $6 a month on aussie-sport.tv whilst reading demonland every morning. Im sitting at UCLA on the other side of the world yelling at my laptop whilst all the Americans have no idea why, a sport which they dont understand. I decided to post this thread to express that being without my beloved demons through this exciting period temps me to expedia my QANTAS flight home. Pettards dropped mark at the collingwood game, Dunn and Watts missing those goals, Woonas signs to the crowd, Greens dominance, Jonsey stepping up, Maccas leadership, trengrove n scullys debut year, the new training facilities, following Jimmys health, rising stars, debt demolition, Spikes hair .. Every game we win i proudly wear my 2000 signed MFC guernsey by Daniher, Yze, Viney, Farmer, Robbo around LA, autographs that no Lakers supporter understand. im missing out on too much over here, i havnt heard the theme song for 7 months.

Ill be back in Oz in Janurary sitting in the MCC never to depart Green and Bails ever again.

Every game next year .. Bring on 2011

I'm with you Joe. Been overseas in Seattle since mid 2008 and have to say I've chosen the best possible time (if there is one?) to be away from the Dees when you consider how crap we were in 08 and 09. Luckily I made it back for a couple of games in rd 14/15 and saw us beat Essendon which was fantastic. I too will be back (for good) for the start of the 2011 season and hope to make it to every VIC game next year.

The Aussie TV package ($60 per year) has been fantastic for me...I can watch entire replays 12 hours after conclusion. Plus the $6 live game option is good too, and I'll cheer on the boys this week Vs Lions.

I also agree that the Yanks have no idea about AFL. I remember last years GF - trying to watch the game at the pub and had to beg the manager to show the game. He evenutally did show it and not one patron even bothered to watch any of the game. Also, if I had a dollar for every American who thinks our great game is rugby I'd be rather rich.

While you are over there, can you punch a Lakers fan for me?

Good effort following a team from abroad. I know how frustrating it can be to watch replays because you cannot watch it live due to the time difference. You try and avoid the score, then some anus sends you a sms or facebook message about the game that you have so carefully avoided.

I have been to all games in Victoria this year, and have found the resurgence to be a thing of beauty. You will certainly enjoy next season, there is much to look forward to.

also an dees supporter living in america. i left the week after we lost by a point to the filth. i was there for the tumultuous years. and NOW i leave. im super frustrated at the fact that i cant watch games anywhere, theres hardly anything online, for free at least, and at one point, i could watch the 'game analyser' thru the tipping comp on the afl website, but now it seems its only allowed for people in australia. it p*sses me off.

but i love the dees, and have thoroughly enjoyed the beginnings of rising this year, and ill stay up til all hours of the morning streaming the live radio feed. and if im still here, and we make a gf, you bet your bottom dollar i will be qantasing it home!

i can empathise with your pain about americans not understanding the game ("australian football" "ohhh you mean rugby?" "no i mean australian football") but im lucky enough to have found a source to not only get my fix of aussies, but also a whole bunch of americans who WANT to learn about the game. theyre excited by it, and the sport is growing exponentially here.

in im northern california, and we have a great league (golden gate australian football league), and a number of spin off rec footy comps which are co-ed. nationals will be happening in kentucky in october.

i know its not the same as watching the mighty dees play, but it goes a long way to filling the gap, and actually having someone to discuss AFL with, and watch games with. we are having a grand final function at one of the sponsor pubs in sacramento, and they are playing the game on every tv they have!

where theres a will, theres a way. and there is definitely a league in orange county (we played against them a few weeks ago)

and there are plenty of leagues all across the country.

i would suggest checking out www.usafl.com...

good luck, enjoy your last months here and GO DEES!

Feel my pain, have been living overseas for four years, working in Syria, Lebanon, East Timor, Kenya and about once a year I make it back to watch a game, so far vs North Melbourne last year (took my sports mad Finnish wife for her first game and she was rightly bored) and then to the West Coast match this year, not much joy there either.

The small mercy is I'm in Finland at the moment and they have almost the best everything which includes internet and I was able to watch my first live win in I don't know how long.

We are all paid up members and I've handed out a few sherrins over the years to some strange people in strange places courtesy of a good hearted soul at the club.

But at the moment struggling to convice the wife that we are better than the Wallabies.

Will continue to devour every story about the club and preach the faith where ever I go, and if ever there was a place to recruit another Kouta, the Kenyan highlands is it...

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
