Firstly, I think this is the 3rd thread I've started today so sorry for bombarding those that are nonplussed!!

Anyway, it was mentioned last week about the lack of publicity that our new training base and home at AAMI Park/Goschs Oval had received. I find that a little bit disappointing to tell the truth considering the many years we have had to wait for a decent 'home base'.

Unfortunately I work long days and may have missed any news reports on this but even still I think we have lacked highlighting this great move. Is everything within the training facility actually completed? Is this a reason for the lack of publicity.

I am taking my son along to the junior clinic tomorrow which is being held at the new training base so hope to get a better look then.

Various parts of the facility are not yet complete so it's not ready for a full journo/PR tour.

The incomplete parts would be the more aesthetic or "spiritual" elements like the branding and the historical elements which will give the place the "Home of MFC" kind of feel which are obviously the most important in terms of publicity and media.

"CHECK OUT THIS CONFERENCE ROOM" doesn't make for much of a headline.

Cheers 13th/Inner Demon....thought it might have to do with it not being quite completed.

May also tie in with the release of the new emblem? I guess if it is visible within any area of the new facility that they don't want to let anything out of the bag until everything is done.

Also taking the kids to the junior clinic tomorrow. Should be a good day. I'm hoping they'll pick up some tips. Maybe my kids will learn a thing or two as well ;-)

Was a great day yesterday run very well by the club.....all players were great with the kids.

Didn't get close to seeing the new facilities which was a bit disappointing as I had hoped to catch a glimpse. (It has been nice to see Bartram & MacDonald eating breakfast in the new place - cheers C Schwab for the twitter pics!)

I guess that this ties back with the fact that it is not quite yet ready/completed to show off to everyone. I would imagine the same applies with the actual oval we now use to train on.

Collingwoods oval is quite obvious as it has all sponsor related signs surrounding the oval.

Hopefully ours will have the same to highlight and distinguish the place as ours. I am sure it will be done over the off season perhaps?

But overall am rapt we do have a place to call ours finally!!

This is from COO Matthew Green's article on AAMI Park up on the website:

While we have moved in to AAMI Park, the finishing touches to the fit out are still a few weeks away.

Once these have been finalised, we will be running tours for our supporters, so the new facilities can be seen firsthand. These tours will commence in August.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
