I hope the last two years has been a very good development period for him. He is just showing that he could make it as a forward.

That can't kick from 20.

A couple of comments.

Jack Watts. His best game for the Dee's (I didn't cringe when he got the ball - and the Saints supporters didn't laugh) and most importantly, his team mates started to kick the ball to him whereas in previous weeks they seemed to bypass him, probably fearing he may "stuff it up" (which he often did)! Jack's gaining confidence in himself as are his team mates in him.

Jordie McKenzie. This kid's gunna be a real tough nut. One of our best today and was not IMHO "overwhelmed by class".

I also agree that Lynden Dunn was "Lively and Involved". Before he was drafted I read a report (maybe by Emma Quayle) that he was a bit of a hard nut and quite aggressive in junior football, something I hadn't noticed at senior level. But that aggression/involvement was certainly evident yesterday. And he was certainly better than his fellow 2004 draftee Matthew Bate.

I didn't think Jake Spencer was too bad! He's a gangling 204cm tall 20 y.o. who showed more than Jamar did at a similar age. (But yep I must agree his co ordination's a bit off).

Bartram - devoid of class

Bate - not a KPP

Bennell - potential is there

Bruce - a Bruce game

Cheney - not enough tricks

Davey - needs support

Dunn - has a punchable head

Frawley - versatile

Garland - looks like a dope fiend

Green - usual class

Grimes - errant kicks

Jamar - battled hard

Jetta - fringe player

Jones - a battler

MacDonald - related to Daniel Bell ?

McKenzie - had a crack

Moloney - errant handballs

Rivers - usual nothing game

Scully - get used to tags

Spencer - provides comedy

Trengove - 9 contested possessions

Watts - starting to believe

Not sure what that's got to do with how he played yesterday, and think your assessment on Macdonald is harsh. Think you've nailed it with the rest.

Nup....Brad Green's against the pies ;) We would've got over the line had that sailed through!

Not your best work joeboy.

Watts wasn't our best, McKenzie was very, very good, and Davey while beaten worked hard to get to every contest, and when he had it looked good.

I thought we held our own in the first half however after that were very ordinary.

I do not think we have improved on last year.

We need to beat Essendon next week, if we don't then we have come no were so far this year.

I am surprised to say it but Watts earned his spot this week there were 5-6 that did not contribute much yesterday.

Scully should be rested he has been poor since Darwin he has not earned his spot the last three weeks.

He is a good player but needs a run at Casey to get back his form.

Cheney produced what I expected ( Very little )1 more week

Spencer I keep hoping but my confidence is fading. 1 more week

Bennel Poor back to Casey

Jones poor back to Casey

Garland was very good for mine. He oozes class and is a very smart player. Incredibly happy to have him back on the field!

And McKenzie was terrific too.

Garland was pretty good but please can we stop letting him kick in. Never a fast break and always the same option.

This problem sounds like it might have more to do with team strategy than the individual player. It sounds like it could be solved with better teaching rather than changing players.

Stopped in on a short break on a busy day and gee, that made me laugh.

I agree with dee dee on this. I thought it was easily his best game, competed well, seems to be fitter and not so stuffed at end of quarters, still could be more fierce at the contest but still went in and tackled, great hands - that give in the first q for a goal was silky. One thing though i slightly disagree on is his teammates starting to kick to him more. I felt they often ignored him, even when he lead well and made it into space - which in turns means he is sometimes out of position when a teammate kicks it 40 metres away from him. I think they have to be told to start looking for him more often and "honouring" his lead. By the by he can seeem a littel laconic at times but his joy at kicking his goal is a good indication of keen to do well he really is. An injury free preseason, a full season next year, another good preseason and we will have top shelf forward at the start of 2012.

Dunn - has a punchable head

I liked his game, so I felt like disagreeing...

But I can't. If he played for an opposition team, he'd be flying up my "most hated opposition players" list.

If he ever delivers on his promise at draft day, look out, he'll be in everyone's top 10.

Cannot understand how Davey can get in the top six players against the Saints.

I thought he was poor - 14 touches and limited impact with them...for a player of his ability we need much more than that from him.

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round.
