Hoping Scully stays for the long run

Quite a few around here need to have a crack at "Living in the moment" The past is done and the future hasn't happened. Try the present, it's quite refreshing.

Apologies for sounding like some meditation master - I too am a work in progress

I agree, Let's support the team hard this year so Scully plays in some great wins. Then the temptation to leave will be less.

At the same time i am not a fan of Long contracts. Too many things can happen-plus i think a player can get a little comfortable with a long contract.

By saying that List Management is absolutely crucial & we should never let our Top Shelf get away.

Really hope melbourne lock scully in for a much bigger contract soon, i belive he has a 2 year deal atm and Trengove has a 3 year deal? I like most feel he is very vulnrable with GC, and GWS coming???

Need not worry i have a fare idea the FD will be doing what needs to be done and some how i think he will make the priority list!

The life of a Melbourne supporter - fear the worst, and revel in being the first to fear what eventually happens.

It's a defence mechanism.

Let's grow: Scully will play 250 games for the dees and win a flag or two.

Anything else would be disappointing.

I'm confident he will stay, the horizon of premierships to come would be a lot more enticing than the common dollar.

That's easy to say when you aren't having a couple of million bucks waved in your face :-)

I think you will find that some players will stay loyal no matter the money, Tom Scully is a local boy, so no go home factor, if you look at the few big moves that have happened it wasn't exactly the player looking at jumping ship...Aker from Brisbane, Fevola to Brisbane, Burgoyne I think had burnt too many bridges at Port, maybe the only one recently who has chased dollars is Robbie Warnock.

As another poster stated the FD will look after everything.

On a side note, I asked Tim Harrington a few of these questions, he is already looking at the end of the season, and you will see more deals tied up in the near future, of course he can't tell me as they are ongoing.

One good bit, Jack Viney is a definite, they have already spoke to him and Todd and he wants to play for Melbourne and they will use whatever pick they have for the Father/Son

I have been chatting with a mate from work who is a recruiting officer for WCE and we got onto the topic of players leaving clubs for whatever reason, homesick, money, more opportunities.

When you think about it, how many players leave for other clubs each year? Not too many.

And how many important/star (or future star) players leave their clubs? Again, not many.

I think people worry too much.

Scully will stay and will be a star in a hopefully great and successful team on the future.

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res
