This story won't go away and Robbo has added another small piece in today's paper. Clearly the club are investigating a permanent home that we can have a major control in for the the whole year. The City Council has previously said they would help as has the State Government, as I recall. The latest suggestion is for an area near the Bolte Bridge. I would imagine an MCG size oval with a great surface and a stand with full facilities adjacent to the oval. The club would house its full administration not just football department in dare I say it, state of the art facilites, giving us the best facility of all AFL clubs. Commercial sections could be incorporated such as restaurants and shops/offices etc making it a money spinner as well. The possibilities would be endless and would once and for all end any speculation of a relocation for the MFC. The article said any such facility would be 5-10 years away but that is ok as everything needs to be carefully planned and investigated as to viability. I would imagine the Casey connection would not need to be changed and Casey would remain a summer training home and VFL ground with occasional MFC use during the season to foster the community relationship. The two clubs have a good working relationship.

On another note I spoke to an MCC Committee man this week and I suggested a sign over a doorway that says "MCG home of the MFC" would be a welcome addition and he did not say that it was not possible.

Our club is really moving ahead with a great list, stable administration, new facilities, record membership, good attendance numbers, decreasing debt and hope of profit this season, stable sponsorships with the real chance of more to come, financial security via the new pokie licences and a very bright future outlook. We are going to feel very proud of our club and its position in the AFL in the next few years. Go Dees.

Absolutely right! You just can't speak too highly of the present Board, Administration and Football Departments for turning things around so quickly. The new facility (if it eventuates) will just add to the very rosy future which is taking shape.

This would be the ultimate in terms of supporting the MFC.

We'd be a powerhouse and securing our future forever is all I want as a supporter.

It is the worst part of our game that when a team goes bad on field the first argument is

they should relocate. It's a flawed philosphy that moving a team equals increase support and success.

Casey is a strategic planning genius massive growth corridor new young families looking for a team to

support and here's the MFC in schools/community making its presence felt.

Docklands 5 mins from our spiritual mecca would be awesome. But the bubbledome looks pretty awesome at the moment

and I thinks we've got Gosch's paddock to train also.

With the Bombers having issues at Windy Hill, what we don't want to happen is for them to swoop in and get a deal down at Docklands that may scuttle any ambition we have to move there.

With them as tenants of Etihad, it's a good fit for them!

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
