How can a player turning 20 this season so definitively be 'the future' in place of a player aged 21???

Where are Bennell's 3 & 4 goal bags that put him ahead of Aussie in terms of future discussions???

Surely any discussion regarding the future wouldn't be influenced by a current injury?? Where does your argument go if Jamie does his hamstring this weekend???

jamie wont do his hamstring this weekend, aussie could do his tying up his shoelaces,its not hard to figure out, unfortunately aussies body cant handle the stess of AFL.

I also believe aussie is a tad overrated on this forum. Fair enough, he finished 2nd in the goal kicking in his first season, but let's face it, that was for a team that finished 16th. I have Aussie and Jurrah in the same category, still not sure if they will become permanent MFC players for the next decade. They both have the obvious ability, and LJ has the obvious X-Factor, but when I look at the likes of Grimes (who has played similar games to Aussie), you can see where I am coming from.

Grimes is a freak. To play like he does when he's only had a dozen games experience is not the norm.

I rate Aussie very highly. He is a great kick, great vision and spatial awareness and is the player i would want with the ball 60-65 metres out from goal.

IMO LJ has played just as well as Grimes in their retrospective first 9 odd games.

He's missed one season of football with 2 different injuries. Is Liam Jurrah's body 'not up to the rigours of AFL' because he got injured???? Better give up on him too.

I'm also fascinated to learn that Jamie Bennell will definitely not get injured this weekend, and presumably, ever throughout his career. I don't suppose your crystal ball has seen the results of all of this week's Lotto numbers as well as the injury future of individual players.

That may or may not be a good thing IMO. I love Benny's pace and run out of defence, but for mine he will need to become more accountable for his opponent, and make fewer errors under pressure, before I would rate him as a strong half back candidate. There's a fair chance he will get there with experience, but on form this year, he offers much more as a forward than a defender.

Agreed. He does currently offer more in attack than defence, but if manages to become more accountable and brings his defensive pressure to the half backline, then he will be a valuable commodity. He certainly quick enough to keep up with the fastest small forwards in the game.

It's been very well publicised that Aussie's injury issue is not the regular scenario where he's potentially doomed to an injury problem from stretching out or kicking. He's working with biomechanists to rectify an issue in tackling technique, once that is solved, he will hopefully be good to go.

For the record, he's only injured his hammies twice. In the pre-seasons of last year and this year. The majority of his time out last year was a meniscus injury.
