2010 Membership Thread

Don't worry re playing more games at Etihad-- play them in China- or Casey..These are the areas where we are developing and will gain tremendous membership over the next few years.China- in particular is exciting..I can see the Chinese holding, say 10% of our whole membership in 5/7 years time.

Straight cost-benefit equation. We'd lose money by putting on membership tents at a game like this where we wouldn't sell many memberships.

Why don't you just sign your mate up yourself and then tell him he owes you $50??

It's a good thought Inner, but wouldn't I need his membership card?

Our next two games are home games, he can get it then.

Nope. You'll just need his name, address, mobile & email.

Oh, and jayceebee, let go of the China stuff mate. You're overplaying it epically.

The Melbourne Football Club is officially flying - today breaking its all-time membership record on the back of two wooden spoons two months before the cut-off date.

I knew it. We do have loads of supporters out there-It''s just many have lost interest over the last 30 odd years. But this new group of kids is the most exciting we have had since the early 50's.

People are no longer embarrassed to say the are Demon Supporters-This resurgance is also beautifully timed with the Casey Move. Thanks Jordan McMahon. You have Helped the MFC so much more than you dreamed.

I tip 33,666 as this years tally

Of which you later changed to in another post to 35,000. :)

Should have sticked with your initial.

I'll give you your 33,666 just to make it interesting. ;)

It's on again. What's your prediction. Furthest from the pin buys a Demon's Heartland Membership.

I'm going with 33,897

You're looking good Roost It. You might have me covered. The way it's going it could be half way between both our predicted tally's. I'll buy one regardless, like I did last year.

Ah yes. You're on. :)

You've gone with a very competitive tally. I'll say 32,757.

32950

This could be very close.

let's be positive 35851

Need a massive surge.

Is it Drew?

Former Pirate / Old Scotch

No I can say for a fact he is fully paid up already, since that post a excellent member of staff sorted the snafu for me and we are now renewed plus two extras. PM me if your looking to get in touch with Drew.

Cheers

Mark

Hopefully we can sign up many new members this weekend-Darwin could be a very important place for us in coming years.

Thanks for the Figures 45

This tally may contain the new three match memberships, which would be a positive, but not nearly as positive as season memberships would be.

Last years tally included three game memberships as well.

This tally may contain the new three match memberships, which would be a positive, but not nearly as positive as season memberships would be.

Its all $$$ DOF and it's all people who are now in contact with the club.

Full memberships can be taken out next year by the stragglers.

I know this topic has been covered before, but it looks like the other clubs are fudging their membership figures to make themselves look impressive to sponsors etc.

Maybe we should be looking at 5, 3 or even 1 game membership tickets & shamelessly inflate our figures beyond 50,000 like the other clubs.

Cats & Dogs

Tickets of less than 3 matches are not recognised by the AFL, however tickets of 3 or more are, therefore imagine if 25,000 of our MCC members purchased a 3 game ticket? What would our tally be?

Some other clubs tally's: -

Adel N/a

Bris 28,791

Carl 38,934

Coll 56,233

Ess N/a

Frem N/a

Geel 38,601

Haw 52,660

Melb 32,570

Nth Melb 27,900

Port Adel 31,301

Richmond 41,201

St.Kilda 39,547

Sydney N/a

Doggies 33,629

West Coast N/a

Hopefully we can get a little closer to the Dogs tally.

Last years tally included three game memberships as well.

You may be correct 45, but the MFC website states the following in relation to 3-game memberships:

"New in 2010, we are pleased to introduce the 3-game membership for just $84".

"New in 2010, we are pleased to introduce the 3-game membership for just $84".

I do agree with 3 game memberships however; they should be introduced as late as possible - say mid June. This way people wont drop the standard 11 game membership & jump onto the cheaper one.

You've got me covered at the current rate, should go close to your tally (white flag is up, well done). I'll contact the club next week for the Heartland M'ship. :)

Well my partner got one last year so I'm not sure why that's written. Also, it's round 9, we probably only have about 6 games left at the G, our membership tally woul stall dramatically if not for this because very few people would buy a full membership at round 9-10.

It's not like it's that cheap either.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.
