Gameday Thread vs. Collingwood

Don't know how much game time Bail has had, but I have loved his hardness in the contest.

Im so happy, Collingwood are a premiership chance, I dont care if we dont win today just keep going how we are. Newton doing well, a little bit worried about Strauss

Very, very good signs. We missed two very easy goals just prior to half time (Jamar and Scully). Our forward half is working well for the first time in way too long.

I was depressed this time last week. Fast forward ONE week, the adrenalin and hope is back. Keep it up, Dees - we're right in this game.

Totally agree - Bail looks very likely.

Bate has been terrible up until half time. Good game of football, the big test is the third quarter. Definitely feeling the love for McKenzie.
You got that right. he is a darn sight better than Valenti was.

Bate has been shocking, looks sluggish.

I dont think his ready.

week is a long time in footy. improvement in output was always going to happen.

Best to half time in my eyes: Petterd, Trengove, McKenzie, Grimes. Bit of a theme there.

Besides the miss at goal, loving Jamar's pantsing of Jols.

Bate has been shocking, looks sluggish.

I dont think his ready.

Bailey needs to single him out and give him a blast.

Some very promising signs today. Let's hope they can keep up the pressure in the last two quarters.C'mon Demons.

Scully... 6 touches and 3 frees against? Going by the pre-season he should come into the game in the second half. Interesting trend developing with him. His fitness keeping him in good stead in the last quarter.

Juice needs to kick a few for us to win. Petterd can't be expected to kick 6+.

Great first half Dees,5 points down, who would've thought against a top 4 team but that's what pressure does.I've been banging on about going man on man across the ground against the Pies and taking their time away when they get the ball.41 tackles to half time which is 80 pace again, that's where we need to start, they are a much better side on paper and grass for that matter but our pressure is troubling them, giving them no space.Grimes is killing Didak and Petterd carving up Shaw.Contested possession to half time is 67 each with Jamar on 9 the most on the ground. We are handballing less this week but we just don't have a key forward to kick to.I said on Tuesday Newton should come in for Miller and he reads the play better than Miller and is a better kick,a win there.

Can we keep it up in the second half?

Quite right.

Bater is someone who needs to be completely matchfit... can't seem to work himself into a game.

Will be heaps better within the next 2 weeks.

Bate has been shocking, looks sluggish.

I dont think his ready.

Ditto Cameron Bruce his hospital handballs should not be tolerated ever again

im not at the game or watching, but looking at the stats Bennell has not touched it, is he injured?

I must have Grimes' babies. That is all! :)

Father/Son Rule! Would love another half a dozen Junior Grimes running around on the paddock

Who's gonna kick the goals in the last quarter?

Green and Petterd won't surprise anymore, and will need to earn every ball. If Newton does nothing, we're going to be in trouble. Who's on him?

Wouldn't it be lovely if Green could pop up with a few in the last? Get his personal best, and win the game for us in his 200th, at a time when the demons were more in need of a win than just about at any time? Would cement his name as MFC champion.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
