Worth noting that Petterd said recently that while he loves playing with the Dees and is enjoying his footy, it would be a huge rush to be playing regularly in front of family and friends up north. He is very much open to the idea of going north, although not certain to go if they offer him a deal.

He's also a "follower" of the GoldCoastFC on twitter.

If he doesn't want to stay then I'll help him pack his bags and enjoy watching him see what could have been.

If he does want to stay then I will enjoy his time at the club.

It's pretty simple and I won't lose sleep over it.

Honestly, to me it would be a terrible thing if any of our young guys wanted to leave, not just because of the loss of a promising player but because I like to think that the camaraderie of the group and the promise of some real success in the next few years would be enough to keep them despite the vast coffers of the GC and GWS teams. Given the culture that Jimmy is trying to build, any player who chooses to walk away is a blow.

Whilst not a great shock to most of us, Steve Quartermain just revealed on 'One Week At A Time' that Frawley and Morton were both offered big bucks by Gold Coast and both rejected the advances because of the future they see here at Demonland. Made me all warm and fuzzy anyway.

I'll put it a bit differently - the club should be MAKING our required players want to stay. Create a great culture, team camaraderie, win lots of games, give real opportunities for players to shine...$ can't replace all that. Let's face it, we don't have any Abletts or Riewoldts at the moment.

I reckon Jimmy & co. are well on the way to do that...

Yes and by and large we have it right but if if player wants to go for whatever reason (homesickness, money, clashes with the coach or whatever) then we close ranks and say "Right. You don't want to be part of this so then you can [censored] off to Carlton or some other club". Simple, direct and right on the money (pardon the pun).

The boys and the supporters have put up with too much crap getting to the point where we are finally recieving some respect to have to fight for a players favour. Either be part of it or don't. The MFC jumper is an honour and if a player needs to be convinced of that then I think that they are at the wrong club.

This sums it up for me. As a member and passionate supporter of my football club, I expect nothing less.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
