Does anyone have directions/information on getting to the ground from Cranbourne station? Is there a bus that takes you to or near the ground?

I think its Bus - 896 to the Casey community sports complex,,,,,then walk 500 metres down the road to the Casey Fields sports grounds... See the light towers & walk towards them.

Daniel Hughes gets his chance, good luck mate.

Things are really conspiring against me seeing the team this pre-season.

First my knee, which means public transport and long standing periods are a definite no, and then the massive storms in Melbourne which damaged my car, so I can't drive to Casey :(

Will be relying on updates from the good members of Demonland!

Grimes not playing?

Bate + Wonna both playing, yay! Also Davey, Green and Bruce back in as expected.

Otherwise, no surprises except for Hughes... but I guess he had to get a game at some point.

West Coast seem almost full-strength save for the Big Q and D Glass i think.

Should be a good game, looking forward to making the road trip.

Good to see some big returns, both teams will be fielding the strongest 24 available. Bate, Bruce, Davey, Aussie, Sylvia, Moloney all back shame Grimes is missing I hope it is just resting him for a long season ahead him and Joel Mac are the only fit player that will play round 1 that seems to be missing.

The 6 big ins would almost be the top 6 from our B&F last year.

So to summarise the changes from the side which actually played against Adelaide...

In: Bate, Sylvia, Moloney, Bruce, Wonaeamirri, Davey, Hughes, Bennell

Out: Bartram, Grimes, Bell, Jurrah, Macdonald, Rivers

The only known injuries of the outs are Jurrah and Bell (both shoulders).

Presuming Grimes, Rivers and Macdonald are only being rested, it appears we might have something close to our best line-up (minus Morton and Jurrah) come round one.

Not a bad result from a pre-season, all things considered.

Looks like both teams are playing some pretty decent teams. Glass and Lynch probably are the only 2 Eagles missing. This should be a decent tune up.

Seems odd to me that MacDonald is being rested. Didn't he miss the Essendon match?

Other then that, it looks like we'll have had our entire team out on the field in the pre-season at least once, with Bate and Wonna getting a run this week, so that stands us in good stead for Round 1.

The paranoid Melbourne supporter in me says season-ending flare-ups of previous back/groin injuries and hence doom.

Hopefull somebody has actual proof that they really are just being rested with mild toenail soreness, and nothing else unsure.gif

Nah he played that one.

I Dont think he played last week though.

2 weeks off, personally don't see the need. That also means he will get3 weeks off because of the break.

Is Dunn and in as well? I didn't think he has played this p.s.

Nah, Dunn played against Adelaide last weekend.

See AFL Photos pics for proof.

Oh, well even 'worse' then. Why he needs a rest, at his age with his body (I don't know of any recurring injuries, or any injyuries at all), I don't know. But if it gives Strauss, Cheney and McNamara more gametime then it's a good thing I guess.

Grimes was on side lines today at the junction oval doing handball drills. Must have pulled up sore after the Adelaide game. Nothing to worry about I dont think.

I'll be along, got an invite to the Casey Presidents dinner, so will see some of the Casey matches as well. I will happily note my thoughts here on Sunday for everyone, though they will be just one persons observations.

Cant wait to get down to casey this weekend to see Wonna, Bruce and Batey play. Will be good to see a bit more fire power in the forward line.

Hopefully I'll be able to go.

squad looks good with Bate, Moloney and Sylvia back.

Does anyone know what happened to MacDonald and Grimes, were they just dropped or is there a minor injury concern.

Matt Burgan's report in the MFC website (Garland Fit, Bate, Bruce ready)indicates that Morton will miss 12 weeks due to his knee injury. This is more than the 8-10 weeks reported on the official injury list.

Looks like Wonna and Hughes may play against the Wiggles this weekend.

I will be there taking photos (will post after the game obviously). I will also provide score updates from time to time. I'm sure Whispering Jack will provide a Match Report after the game. Judging from the Essendon game a few weeks ago I'm sure there will be plenty of Demonlanders providing updates during the game. Also the MFC official twitter account will be providing updates during the game.

Jst heard DB on SEN with Hungry. Wona likely to play in the curtain raiser game.

Nothing else of much interest. Talked about the injuries being mainly collision injuries which are pretty much unavoidable.

Players that have improved quite a bit are Strauss, Bennell, Maric and also said Jamar will 'dominate' a few games this year.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0–4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.
