If anyone's worried about drafting a player, it's simple.

Scully has had OP before.

Do your medical checks and trust the medical advice.

I'm sure that's what they are doing.

That was from pushing his body too hard at a young age! Bit different to structural damage like a knee reco?!

I read that he has grown 8cm in a very short time. This sort of thing can lead to loosness in the joints. Having said that, I don't think it is really such a big issue; medical science is pretty good at knee reconstructions these days. I would expect the knee to be stronger post reconstruction, particularly as I understand it was not a serious structural issue.

Where did I hear the other day someone saying they now put ACLs in the same basket as having your appendix out?

Its become routine and assuming correct rehab is adhered to, then anyone should make a full recovery.

Probably heard it at TAFE

You never know what sort of injuries a player will get later in his career.

Look at the 2006 draft.

Essendon took Gumbleton, who didn't have much of an injury history, and six clubs passed over Selwood because of injury concerns.

Look at Chris Judd - Nuf Said.

hahahaha is that your attempt at an insult?

I know some incredibly smart people that have been to TAFE. Nothing wrong with it.

But I've been to 3 different universities for my degrees mate.

Try another one.

Either way, I'm fairly confident he'll make a full recovery and could be an asset to a club like ours.

Considering our weak ruck stocks he could be given plenty of game time and develop quickly.

Got the word that big Maxy will be playing his first game this week for Casey 2nds.

Good luck to the big lad.

I am very pumped for this bloke.

I reckon he could be a very important player for us in the future.

Max told me he was going to play in four weeks time 10 weeks ago- so I hope it is true and he can play his first game this weekend. The club has held him back to make sure he is given the full backing of the club to now go forward.

Looked good at training last Saturday. He's an athletic looking guy, more of a triangular shape than just a beanpole. Slightly awkward kicking action, but it was effective enough. Unsurprising I suppose given the ball has to fall about 5 feet to get to his boot!! Very smooth mover though, doesn't have that baby giraffe gallop a lot of guys that size have.

Yes, saw him train two weeks ago and your description suits. Apt description for some re: baby giraffe gallop...

Sounds like Paul Johnson except a bit taller.

God i hope he can actually play.....

If you look at the early reviews before he was drafted, I think you'll see that he is an entirely different kettle of fish to PJ. I seem to recall things like he knows how to use his size and goes for physical contact were mentioned, as well as pretty fair skills and mobility. I'm thinking it could be well worthwhile heading down to Casey to watch this weekends games.

That's 11:00am at Casey Fields folks. Get down there and give the lad some encouragement.

Well, maybe. There is talk that Casey Fields may be "rested" for a while and Casey games played elsewhere, so check Casey site beforehand before making a long trip

Hello,

I just read KC from Casey tread and saw this

Young ruckman Max Gawn suffered a setback when he strained a medial ligament in his knee.

Any info for us. Is it the same knee? How bad?

Good luck to the big boy. Hopefully he can come back again.......

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int

    POSTGAME: Rd 24 vs Collingwood

The Dees played insipid, error riddled & uninspiring footy all night and in a lightning delayed match they eventually succumbed to Collingwood by 46 points at the MCG in the final game of the year. Thank God this season is finally over. Bring on 2025.

    LAST DANCE by The Oracle

Forget the wishful thinking from Magpie fans who think their team can perform yet another miracle and somehow snatch a place in the 2024 finals series when their team takes on the Demons at the MCG on Friday night. It ain’t gunna happen. They can whistle Dixie through their non-existent front teeth but the fact of the matter is that both teams have run their race. The game is a dead rubber — for each of them, this will be the last dance of the season.  And given the history between the two

    RED FACED by Whispering Jack

The wind and the hot unseasonable temperatures together with lights turned on mid game at People First Stadium conspired to leave many Suns players and supporters red faced and gasping for air as the Demons proved a number of points on their way to a nine goal triumph on Saturday afternoon in the Carrara sunshine. Melbourne is the only non-Queensland team to taste victory at this venue in 2024. This surely leaves a number of journalists and media mavens red faced after they rushed to pass
