Has Dangerfield signed with Adelaide, he would be out off contract based on standard 2 year contract for the drafted players

Guys, read between the lines...

its obvious that they are talking about Shaun Burgoyne...

All the other 'uncontracted' players are set for other moves..Drum,Peake etc etc

There is no way we will get Burgoyne but hopefully mark williams decides to be a problem for the potential deal...

surely he won't let him go for nothing? another nick stevens? its ridiculous..

All that will happen is Burgoyne will nominate for the National Draft with a price on his head. He will then be taken with Hawthorns pick 9 unless someone else decides to take him earlier and accept his contract terms. I would say that would be highly likely.

Williams is a vindictive guy, of all the coaches I can see him doing it.

I believe you are correct on burgoyne being the player. We can dream a little bit cant we!

Its not the National Draft...Its the Pre Season Draft...

And sure they can put a price on his head...but the hawks supposedly had a confirmed deal of 450k a season for Burgoyne....Given our salary cap is non existent....i see no reason why we can't pay this for an excellent player...

if it was 500 - 700k a season that would be well out of our relms....

Wouldn't rule us out..but yes Williams is a vindictive coach...and let him go for nothing...but i can't see it happening again as was the case with Nick Stevens...

Port need to rebuild and if it came to the crunch, if Hawks offered Pick 9 and Tuck..they would take it...If not Dons offering pick 10 and Lovett....any of those deals is better than nothing....

Maybe Shane Mumford or Mark Blake from Geelong? They are both uncontracted according to Neil Balme

IMO Mumford is best fit for us. Allows us to release Jamar to PA, is the right age and size and will be there or therabouts when the window opens up.

Blake is easily intimidated and has limited impact on games - god I hope it isn't him.

Nevertheless CS has twittered about needing a minimum 12 players to rotate through the midfield. And S Burgoyne is quality...

Its not the National Draft...Its the Pre Season Draft...

There's nothing to stop him from nominating for the National Draft, which is what he will do if he really wants to go to Hawthorn. The only way he will nominate for the Pre-Season draft is if he actually wants to come to us.

There you go. Wondered when you'd show up. ;)

Chances good?

Sorry mate,

It's not Salopek because he's signed .. its Berger .. Im going crazy!

(they do look pretty similar) lol

I can state that Burgoine doesn't want to play for anyone but the Hawks - but I have a "sneaky" suspicion that Port will make a stand and send him to the PSD.

His price is $650,000 for all clubs bar Hawthorn as a scare tactic.

I'd suggest he'd much rather go to Melbourne (where he can command his salary) and know what he's joining as opposed to risking being taken in the ND by anyone.

If that happens, we'll effectively have pick 10. ;)

I'll pay SBurgoyne 600K to get him over the line. That's 150K a year extra. Look after your family Shaun.

Apparently so do a few others have that sneaky suspicion. I wonder who Williams likes more......Clarkson or Bailey...

Port have no say if he goes into PSd or National draft. All Port can do is refuse the deals that Hawks offer but then Burgoyne can nominate for National draft.Which then if whoever wants him can take him as long as they meet his pay demands.Problem there for Burgoyne though is that Freo & Swans have both said they have the money & room in the cap to take him & they both have picks before Hawks.Thats where we might win out cos if Burgoyne serious about playing in VIC he might have to skip the draft & just nominate for PSD so as Freo or Swans dont get him. There we have the num 1 pick plus room in our cap.Port have just put all the pressure back on Burgoyne & the Hawks but in the end might help us.Maybe we have stepped in & tried to help Burgoyne out by getting his wish to play in Vic even if we arnt his 1st choice

thats our only chance right there.

Burgoyne MIGHT get to play in vic with the club of his choice in the national draft, or he can definately play in vic with a club in his top 3 prefs in the psd.

Freo and Sydney will not give up first round new talent to take Burgoyne. Therefore unless Port re-draft him at 8 (would not put it past Williams) then he will go to Hawthorn at 9.

Wow, that would be awesome. Dangerfield is an absolute gun! I hope it's him.

So why would Geelong ditch Mumford instead of Blake?

Anyhow, White says the following:

Geelong's Neil Balme says the Cats will be very quiet in Trade Week. There have been interest in Shane Mumford from a few clubs

He also says that Port are looking for a ruckman and that there's a rumour Jamar might be that man.
