  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Did you hear his immediate response to that? "The research boys dropped the ball on that one." I couldn't believe it. Screwed up massively, embarrassingly, then instead of deflecting the damage with a gag and with soem class, he blames someone else. And he's still on air.

I have to say though, I did like the whole pressure point, Mr Spock thing they did with him getting knocked out over and over. On a lot of levels.

I think Andrew Maher has said the word "bloke" more than everyone who's ever existed, ever. What a bogan.

But I was talking about him a few weeks ago with my dad, who raised an interesting point. What he said was that in a field dominated by ex-footy players, a guy who knows television (and radio) and how the medium works, can really take the pressure off everyone else, allowing them to only have to concentrate on talking footy (or comedy in the case of Before the Bounce). If he's hosting, it means that Hughesy or Malcolm Blight or whoever isn't.

I assume this is why he's still in the job, considering he doesn't know squat about anything else. Makes sense to me.

It's not just hat he says bloke. It's that he says bllllawuk.

I can tell you that your Dad's point is dead-set exactly right. The show used to be hosted by Heliar, I think. Or I think it was swapped between the panelists. They changed the format, I'm pretty sure, because Radar would have been contracted, and they needed a place to put him that was a bit less annoying and embarrassing for channel ten than match-day in the box. Even as boundary rider the only entertainment or interest he offered was by jumping in and saying "career over!" as soon as a player got a cramp, or by freezing his ass off at Kardinia park much to the amusement of Commetti.

There's a reason he gets moved around. He's an embarrassment wherever he goes. What I just don't get is how he got the job of host in the first place. What organisation would want that face, voice, identity to represent them? Why?!!! Did he get an audition? Did they even look at him? I'm going to assume he was commenting in the VFL or something before he went to the AFL. Maybe they're looking for the next Eddie?

I know for a fact that the stations are struggling at the moment for good screen hosts. They turn to meatheads like Dermie and Crawf because they can't all be Jules Lund types who go from show to show and strike gold every time. In some of these shows cases (non football ones) they audition 40 people, and get nuthin'.

Guys like Brayshaw and Lyon, who are former sportspeople who know how to host, are in short supply, it seems.

I'd like them to look beyond the usual places. Maybe cross sports. I applaud the idea of having hosts and trained screen professionals hold it all together, I think that's the way to go, but gets someone at least HALF decent, who doesn't sound like he's from the back of Bourke, and look like a 70s Korean communicatins officer.

oh, where do I start? As the Dees have mostly been on Fox (another story, but not for here) this year, I've been appalled when, like on saturday when I decided to watch Coll v. Adelaide, they have a couple of clowns on the boundary -- not sure who they are or what they've got to do w. football but they're unprofessional a la Ricky Olarenshaw. & why do they insist on giving us shots from the Space Station? One minute you're seeing a player on the wing & then they're on the moon!

A. Maher has one of the worst voices in electronic media. Does he still introduce interviewees on SEN as "Welcome great man"? (then throw to some B-grader?)

the tools on the boundary line or boundary riders are one step away from commentating... the blonde idiot is mark howard or howie.. he is a nsw import that must have pi$$ed someone off north of the border... he will always interview dale thomas and lesser likes.... he is proof that you dont have to have talent!!

andrew maher - no wonder sen is so poor in the ratings!! this bloke is a fool of the highest order... talks about his days at marcellin or wherever he bluffed his way through....

outstanding is a common word...

the great man - anyone is great compared to you, so that is not saying much..

how about fascinating??

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
