Harsh on Petterd. I'd call Jurrah the burst player. Petterd is just growing in confidence week by week.

So would i normally but Jurrah played more of a 4-qtr game today, whereas Petterd seemed to flash in and out of the game quite a bit. Not one of his better performances but not bad by any means.

Scary to think how much better Jurrah can become with a couple of pre-seasons and extra muscle in him. You can just sense he's growing more and more in confidence every week and is trying more things now. Had a couple of little fumbles, but continued to present and be dangerous all day.

Bartram - worked arse off

Bate - Growing in stature

Cheney - coming along nicely

Davey - displaying midfield presence

Dunn - better with experience

Frawley - maturity starting to show

Jetta - just a baby

Johnson - more positive game

Jones - raising his level

Jurrah - showing confidence, composure

Martin - provided tall option

McDonald - great in defence

McLean - had an influence

McNamara - showed attacking flair

Miller - took tarrant away

Moloney - vital at stoppages

Morton - composed and influential

Petterd - attacks contest hard

Rivers - good defensive game

Robertson - all fall down

Sylvia - liked drying conditions

Valenti - thirty hard possessions

Sylvia - underperformed yet again

Yet again? He's been terrific for most of the games he's played this year. He was quite good today without setting the world on fire imo....

He's the 3rd best player at our club after Brad Green and Aaron Davey....

Vaenti - career making game

Fair enough.

McDonald - Must play on

your kidding.... right? no chance he will play on, the game has passed him by, a fantastic servant of the played, but his time is up

Probably not directly related to 3 word analysis, but :

Umpires Bloody shithouse. Decision against Frawley 90 metre off the ball must rank as the decision of the year. Eddie McDickhead would have taken them to court if it had happened against Collingwood.

Statisticians mean nothing:

Ignores Stef's shepherd of Jurrah's goal.

Ignored Jettas tackle on the man mountain front on ,which lead to a goal

Ignored Jonesy's efforts that set us up with his COMMITTED approach.

Ignored Brad Miller letting Dodd know that is he wants to fight Jurrah he is going to have to get past him. Thats why we need him to look after Jurrah (Doesnt need much looking after'!!) and also to provide the protection from School Footy to big kid footy for that unmentioned new player.

The players all showed their appreciation of these efforts.

Jimmy doesnt need a stat to be effective.

The leadership must come from somewhere. It certainly isn't coming from Bruce and Davey isn't quite there yet.

Based on todays performance, I think McDonald has got another year. In fact, I think he's been quite good all year.

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.
