Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

........................................................... Once again, with feeling -- it is far too early into Bailey's tenure for anyone to judge his ability.

Wholeheartedly agree E25. Bails is currently half way through his contract, and has, by and large, a group of very average seniors and inexperienced kids with potential, playing for him at the moment. The Dees are coming from a lot further back than Hawthorn, and while all of us here are impatient for success, we also need to take a deep breath and be realistic in our expectations.

I remember when Balme was coach and we won the first

few games then fell in a heap.

This type of malaise lasted for years, like a chronic fatigue syndrome

that was especially apparent on interstate trips.

I'm not interested in finals as such, but only one final

and that's winning the grand final.

These days I am optimistic about the future of the club with

Jimmy and with Bailey and the other members of the off field team.

On field, the future looks bright.

The first two years under Baileys charge are essentially strategic. Next year is a true measure of where we all /he is ;)

I'm thinking we're going to win about 6 games next year, Finishing, either with the wooden spoon, or 2nd bottom, to perhaps Fremantle.

This would possibly see us, in draft terms recieve pick 4 or 6.

It seems, due to no priority picks being allocated for 2010, that all teams will stretch their efforts to retain as much "Face" as possible.

Gc-17 will recieve picks 1,2,3,-,5,-,7,-,9,-----,15, & 1st pick of each round.

The thing is we need to stop considering our salvation will come from perennially getting early picks. fair enough for this year but then thats two years good cropping and after this it needs to go down the development and refineent path. If after this year we dont seriously have some talent then we really ought to give it all away. From here on ( after 09 ) is top up and possibly trade...not rebuild

I am pretty sure that PP still exist next year. I have seen no official documentation to the contary. Are you sure this is the case and if so can you point out where the AFL has said this?

If god forbid we fail to win 5 games again in 2010 I think we will get pick 1 & 4.

there are no PP's next year.. they are all suspended. Not sure for following years..but likely to be same when West Sydney enters.

Moral.. Dont count on any rewards for bottoming out after this year ;)

What's your "true measure"?

Success..what else, but you can tilt at windmills or pick your moments. If the Penultimate achievent is a premiership and the gradient is steep then the wise man plots a course across the grade easing his way. This is how I see the first two years. Once more accommodating ground is found then a more direct tilt can be amassed.

I would expect more competitve team selections, more forthright expectations of youth , less reliance ( if any ) on back end players and the fast tracking of talent.

This will show up as "true measure " with a steady climb upwards.

What is the ultimate achievement? Two flags?

Next year we should be better, of course, it goes without saying.

But our best players will still be toddlers.

The next part isn't directed at BB, as such.

2010 could be 12 wins or 7 wins, and let's not be daft - it matters when those wins come. If they come early he will get an extension quickly. If they come on the middle of the season, Bailey will fight off some pressure and get a couple more years.

And if they come at the end of the season, Sean Wellman will be coaching those wins.

One year to go from the spoon to respectibility with a young group is a lot of pressure. Give him 2011 aswell.

Give him an extension before 2010.

Once again, with feeling -- it is far too early into Bailey's tenure for anyone to judge his ability.

Are you kidding me he has been shocking. We can't win a game and we seem to be going nowhere. If we are playing the same type of football at the same time next year he won't see out the year.

I agree. Well, I agree that if our record is the same he won't see out the year.

But that is why we will judge it at this time next year instead of now.

But the style is not the issue -- it is execution.

The rest of your post is thoughtless.

Stop being a sheep and pandering to the whims of the media.

He's been shocking?

I guess he must have forgotten to tell Moloney, McLean and Jones how to kick into the forward line properly...

We are going nowhere?

Where were you last year? That was a train-wreck in which we lost 7 games by 10 goals or more. You're delusional if you think we are as bad as last year. We are still the worst team, but that is because we are coming from so far back.

Forget the last two weeks, people. Young, crap teams are going to play awfully occasionally.

What is it you don't like about getting 2 of Trengove, Scully or Morabito?

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
