Match Preview - Round 2 Collingwood v Melbourne by DaVe86

Fantastic post Doggo.

Dropping Presti has been raised a number of times by Collingwood supporters. I hope we don't do it.

I still think Presti should stand at Full Back and take whoever stands there. Whether it be Miller or Johnson or Martin etc.

If Rocca is not back, I wouldn't even mind us switching Nathan Brown up forward to provide a target. We did this with effect against Carlton last year where he kicked 2 early goals. That would allow us to bring another runner into the side.

Dave, do u think Presti will go to Bate if he lines up at FF? I know Bate was shocking last week and many here have been lamenting his lack of pace and poor ground level ability, but i think he is capable of more than what he showed against the Roo's and may possibly be too mobile a matchup for Presti- leading him up the ground out of the 'danger zone' where Presti is so effective at 'killing the ball', and making space for the other forwards behind him. Bate may not have sheer pace, but he is a hard worker who will make many long, repeated leads. He'll definitely be looking to improve his output and will be hungry to make amends for last weeks effort. And most likely will start in the goal square.

Nathan Brown at FF isn't a bad option at all. I rate him highly and think he will be more of a handful to contain than Rocca coming back from a long lay-off (despite kicking 6 in the VFL last week..). Could be very dangerous up front.

Thoughts?

Great preview Dave, was well worth my time having a read - you should see the debacle of a preview for Melbourne's season that was posted on another form the other week! Mentioned our 165cm or so small forward as a developing ruck!

Feel free to come back on over and put up a preview for QB, i'll definitely be reading it, even better, hang around for a chat :)

Doggo, also a great preview as well.. top thread this.

Good write up. I'm pretty one eyed so I'd be hard pressed to name 10 filth players but I will look with interest to see how close it ends up being.

All a possibility. No doubt any side that plays Collingwood should try and move Presti out of FB. And as you say, if Bate stands at FF then presti will go to him.

I don't think Presti is going to get dragged out much but. If Bate is leading high up the gruond we'll find another matchup. Presti will most likely stand his ground at full back.

My concern is that we don't drop a tall defender. Presti will be out of place if we also have the other 5 defenders there as well. We need more run and a few small options. That's why im keen on Toovey holding his spot because he is a small defender. Getting Shaw back will help...Marty and Harry will have to play on smalls.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
