Our next game in the NAB challenge will be in Cairns – assume against the Lions. Probably Friday night.

Final game will be at Casey on Saturday fortnight (afternoon) – opposition TBA. Expect an announcement that day on the signing of a 30 year commitment to the region.

We need to play as many pre season games at Casey as possible, it would be great if we could play there in the first round on the 2010 Nab cup

What we need is to market the game to the locals as much as possible, maybe even create a carnival sort of an atmosphere with jumping castles and other features that will bring the kiddies in. Provide membership packaeges at a one time discount to entice them in. I would even consider a door knock of the local area, by demon volunteers.

It is the single greatest event this year that will expose Melbourne to natives, investment now will pay dividends for 30 years.

I've spent a little time at the cranbourne shopping centre, and if the folk there are anything to go by, well lets just say I wouldn't be volunteering for this

But these are the folks that love their footy the most. Though I tend to agree.

Yeah, the rest of the idea is great though, make it a big event to get a heap of people/families down there

fair to say its boganville down there, its not our demographic but we need to stay there and change the yokals

i think the yokals will change the club, not the club changing the locals, for far to long the clubs had the toffs mentality, thats why its never appealed to the rest of victoria, theres alot of yokals who follow the pies and look were they are today, theres about 12primary and high schools and nearly 20 kindergardens in cranbourne, they might not be the private school that you went to but theres alot of kids to reach out to in this town, the club needs to start running footy clinics all thru this town, and who knows in the decade they mite have alot more youth wearing demons jumpers.

Though I have to admit I do agree with that, that's exactly the demographic and group Stynes and the current board are attempting to reach out to. Partially the reasoning behind Casey.

Street Talk.......I reckon that even if you went to Toorak and set up a camera between the pub and the TAB (I assume T'rak has both, but I don't know its characteristics) you'd get derros to interview.

Standard OP for Street Talk is to target the location in any shopping centre where the derros and drop kicks pass through.

Mind you, it's very entertaining all the same.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
