  1. Why is it that Schwabby can trumpet on about being a section of the MCC again and then we still have to sell a home MCG game to Darwin?
  2. Spencer will replace Jamar on the Senior List -however this is subject to AFL approval -announcement on Jamar today, Spencer confirmed tommorrow.
  3. It is true -Jamar will be on the LTI list and this will be announced today.
  4. Our next game in the NAB challenge will be in Cairns – assume against the Lions. Probably Friday night. Final game will be at Casey on Saturday fortnight (afternoon) – opposition TBA. Expect an announcement that day on the signing of a 30 year commitment to the region.
  5. The reason why our profile has reduced is that they made Leigh Newton redundant. He’s now at the Hawks. Any of the media pack will tell you that “Juice” was the best at his craft of any of the AFL club media staffers.
  6. More good news MFC will host the official season opening lunch at the G on March 20. This will be the only AFL endorsed season opening event run by an individual club.
  7. MFC to become section of the MCC I understand a joint announcement is imminent from the MFC/MCC regarding the MFC being formally classified again as a "section" of the MCC. I know this has been rumoured for some time but it will soon be official. This rightfully enshrines MFC as the “home” club at the G and the rest of the interlopers there as merely "tenant clubs".
  8. Word is from an insider at Mission Foods – MFC had the sponsorship deal over the line and in fact had a heads of agreement with all key details agreed on ($, terms etc). The MFC corporate department had worked very hard and had built up an excellent rapport with the company. Schwab decided that the deal could be better and tried to re-negotiate the details of the Heads of Agreement into the final agreement. Mission said – “hang on – this is a deal we have already agreed to”. Not surprisingly they developed significant reservations and subsequently looked to see what alternatives there might be. The Bulldogs swooped and the rest is history…
