Sponsor?

Hi All,

I find it amazing that we still are yet to announce a mjor sponsor. With all the the CEO's of companies around Australia who hold so much power in terms of business acumen and monetary dispersement. How can this be? I am trying to get hold of a CEO whom works for the largest Insurance agency in Australia who by chance is a fanatical Melbourne Football Club supporter. Surely someone out there can tee this up. I am happy to pass on the information for someone at Melbourne Admin to get the ball rolling. May equate to nothing but i think its worth a try at the very least.

Does anyone else have some major contacts as MFC could really do with the help at the moment. To think that our Number 1 draft pick will not be able to Don the jumper with a Sponsor attached to it.

Shame Shame Shame.....I would have thought that this would have been a very promotable day for any sponsor to jump on board.

Thanks Bud

This is a point that came up at the recent summit.

Unless people have previous history with the club, the club may not know of them.

I would encourage anyone with this type of information to pass it on via the email address quoted by mickrocks.

I am confident that the current regime will act on any such information.

It would've been a great day for our major sponsor, but it won't be a total loss. I'm sure that if we don't have a major sponsor by then (which we wont unless we rush one out before Saturday, maybe Thursday night?) Watts will get to where a Melbourne shirt with a Volvo logo on it.

Why Volvo, are they the leading sponsor at the moment in terms of contribution to the club?

Fair enough! But the aim is to get ourselves out of the duldrums and to return us to a Super power. The days where ppl say that we are at the snow during winter and all driving Landrovers and Volvos must be tucked away in the past. We have to be more versatile and ensure that our past persona does not get stuck on our back moving forward. Times are a changing so does all of our attitudes as well as the administration department. You will never ever hear me bag our club and I will not start now..All i want is a concerted effort by all to make this happen and to change the times that we have experienced in the past.

Important to note that we still are one of the strongest teams in the AFL, however our support is not reflected by the covering up of all the MCC members that dont bother buying a MFC membership.

Its like they say in the football world. Its all about the 1 per cents that make you successful.

its not only the MFC rseponsibility to promote membership, but all of us as well.

Could be that, there are also Mates of Melbourne connections who work at Volvo...maybe its their initiative, if so, well done.

I've got a feeling Volvo are about to become our major sponsor with another lined up to take Volvo's place as number 2. Just a hunch. I mean it's only another couple of hundred thousand and we could really help them promote the cars. You could park one outside the members entrance every Saturday, sorry, Sunday and let people entering the ground have a good look at them. With number one pick this Saturday you'd reckon we'd have someone lined up.

I really hope so, this'll probably be the best chance we get to have some really positive press about the club and to double it up with an annoucement of our major sponsor. You could scarcely ask for better publicity at this stage of the year.

A good sponsorship arrangement is one whereby the football team is more than just a billboard providing mass exposure. It's about fitting in with (if any) brand that a team may have and being able to target certain markets.

That's why I would love to see the MFC pursue Snickers as a sponsor (as I've mentioned before), especially if the Demon is brought back and the deal with Casey can be finalised (unless it is already).

I really like the idea of incorporating the "Get some nuts!" campaign with Mr T. That is, after coming off one of the worst seasons in the club's history the team really did seem to lack "nuts".

In comes Snickers.

A new attitude, a new beginning and a new opportunity for the Demons to show some nuts and not get pushed around like they were this year.

That's my thinking anyways.

But does being MFC's major sponsor give full value for money to a brand like Snickers? Will it increase their sales sufficiently to justify the cost of sponsorship.

I doubt it.

& as I understand it, MFC already has had some sort of deal with Snickers in place.

I think its highly possible they've had a major sponsor for a while now but are waiting for the optimum time to announce it - ie. Draft Day or at an early number 1 pick announcement.

You're probably right, I was just seeing it as an extension of their ad campaigns. That is the MFC is the soccer player or the power walker (sad but true) and Snickers is there to turn them around. EDIT: i.e. Their greatest challenge yet only this one is real.

It was just an idea that I've thrown out there.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
