Slandering our players

IMO some of the player 'slander' on this forum might come from non MFC supporters who pathetically use the only means at their disposal to destabilise the club.

And don't underestimate the power of Demonland and Demonology to undermine solidarity. We have also heard in the media how AFL players do use these forums, and also that their football departments have suggested they keep away from these kinds of forums to limit negativity in their minds.

I don't agree we need to have played AFL ourselves to criticise players but I do believe we should at least be a paid up member of the MFC to criticise on this forum.

Is it not possible for a "Yze_Magic" type to be more than the troll they are, but say, a troll with filth connections?

Wrong thread champ. Good Luck finding out............ . I think it's fair to say that by next year our Dees will be well under the Cap. And so our team should.

Oh I don't know if the locals in here get their claws into someone they will tear them to shreds........

We went through this over the last couple of years over Brad Miller, who copped more than his fair share of crap and abuse about his performances on the field and his person, and it even got to the point where those of us who were standing up for him were copping personal abuse and ridicule as a result.

See the thing is to me is that I have no problem critiquing a players performance, and while I don't condone YM's constant berating of Bruce it's primarily left to his game day impact, and while I don't like the method as long as it stays within the parameters of the field then the players are open to criticism.

But the minute it becomes a personal assault then all bets are off and that is when it must stop, and is massively out of order.

But we as supporters, members and financial contributors to this club, and the fact that we do all love the team, are more than entitled to give an opinion, whether that be positive or negative, on the teams on field performance. And this is the only forum we can really debate and get varying opinions from our own.

There is just a line that should never be crossed.

This is a bloody big business that these players are in and they should be held accountable to us - the members who pay their wages, and I'm assuming most of us seasoned posters are members.

If Colin Garland drops 2 easy marks in a row in the space of a minute against the Bulldos (in rd 2) then I think its acceptable to have a go at him.

If Daniel Bell concedes 3 goals in a quarter, then I think its acceptable to have a go at him.

If Michael Newton's attitude it not up to AFL standard, then I think its acceptable to have a go at him.

As Diablo said, these players earn a crap load of money (as opposed to you and I) and nobody has forced them to play AFL. As long as the criticism is not personal or offensive or obsessive like YM's tirade on Bruce than its open slather.

ACCEPTABLE:

Player x was pathetic today. (I'm sure the player in question agrees)

NOT ACCEPTABLE:

Player X is a [censored]. I hate Player X.

Perfectly put. That sums up my argument in a nutshell.
