Rushed behind to Fremantle, tapped through by Garland.

Fremantle 0.3.3

Melbourne 5.1.31

Fremantle still goal-less but playing a little better this quarter.

Another behind to the Dockers from an errant kick to Pavlich.

Fremantle 0.4.4

Melbourne 5.1.31

A rushed behind spoiling a nearly magical Davey goal.

Fremantle 0.4.4

Melbourne 5.2.32

A goal to Jamar from 35 directly in front, from a pass by Brad Miller.

Fremantle 0.4.4

Melbourne 6.2.38

Jamar's around-the-ground work is a little better this week, as the Dockers kick another behind, this time from a shot outside 50.

Fremantle 0.5.5

Melbourne 6.2.38

Ibbotson sneaks a goal from one of the worst passages of football I have ever seen.

Fremantle 1.5.11

Melbourne 6.2.38

Listening to radio sounds like our skills are terrible and Freo are starting to use our turn overs to have effective shots on goal

Buckley injured from a pack marking contest as a Miller kick is touched on the line, resulting in a behind.

Fremantle 1.5.11

Melbourne 6.3.39

Freo getting it together as Pavlich marks 35 out, directly in front, from a good passage of play though the middle. Goal.

Fremantle 2.5.17

Melbourne 6.3.39

Johnson of the Dockers sprays a kick from just inside 50, scoring a behind.

Fremantle 2.6.18

Melbourne 6.3.39

From the sounds of it if it wasn't Freo we would be getting beaten by now. Turn overs by handball killing us! Fark come on Dees.

Freo are a complete rabble. How are we letting them back into the game so easily?

Only 1 point now. 5 goals in 13 minutes. Not good enough.

Surprised you guys didn't see this coming.

Anyway, lot's of positives out of that first half so far. Valenti has played well, Buckley and CJ have continued good form, Garland is holding up strong down back, Davey is all class and Miller is leading well.

lol

My foxtel or tv keeps freezing so I can't even watch the game any more without changing the channel every 30 seconds, really pissing me off.

Spoke too soon, we're the rabble now.

Pathetic quarter!

I did but not this easily. We can't win any centre clearances and we aren't running hard anymore. Very true that we have plenty of positives and we are playing PLENTY of kids, I just don't like how easily we have let them back into the game.

True, but what I was trying to sat was that Freo ARE a rabble and that makes letting them back into the game even worse.

SIREN wanna kicks out on the full AFTER SIREN 5.9.39 freo 6.3.39 melb pathetic...

Highlight of the second quarter was Nudge getting a comment on SEN radio.

Lowlight being the Freo worship by SEN radio.

Handballs directly to opposition players, leading directly to scoring attempts. Commentators can not believe the lack of skills and errors.

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?

  • FEATURE: 1925

A hundred years ago today, on 2 May 1925, Melbourne kicked off the new season with a 47 point victory over St Kilda to take top place on the VFL ladder after the opening round of the new season.  Top place was a relatively unknown position for the team then known as the “Fuchsias.” They had finished last in 1923 and rose by only one place in the following year although the final home and away round heralded a promise of things to come when they surprised the eventual premiers Essendon. That victory set the stage for more improvement and it came rapidly. In this series, I will tell the story of how the 1925 season unfolded for the Melbourne Football Club and how it made the VFL finals for the first time in a decade on the way to the ultimate triumph a year later.
