ah yes i completely forgot about Wheatley. Now he is a player we need to get the ball into the hands of. Someone who can kick 60 metres is a plus for any team, Not only that he is actually quite an accurate kick. I would be tempted to leave him at half back and swap with CJ.

His dad was a very good player, AJ. He was great in 1987-1988-89. He along with Duursma and B.Lovett were the backbone of the defence then. I recall when he snapped his hamstring too at the 'G' - it may of been in a final from memory, I reckon you could of heard it go from all around the ground. he went down as if someone shot him in the leg...................ah memories.

Hope CJ is just as good.

Whelan and Rivers as the generals, plus youth on both lines. Plenty of discipline, marking capacity and a fair bit of dash.

Wheatley, Bucks and CJ further up the ground.

I think Garland can be tried as a leading forward. He could be used as a swing man similiar to Adam Hunter from the Eagles. However, can be named in the back pocket. Replacing most likely a Bell or Martin. One of these players will be used off the interchange.

Garland forward?? If it's not broken why fix it?? Interesting point is the height of this defence. Bartram is about 181cm and next tallest is CJ at 189cm. I like the fact that we are developing a backline based on tall, athletic players who are capable of playing tall and small.

I would consider Petterd for a role across half-back, but I think he could develop into a midfielder.

Agree, Garland is better suited down back. Much like Rivers.

There's a little bit of support for Frawley (Chippa), for a starting defender in the line-up next year. May just get a spot on the interchange bench in our line-up i reckon.

Not saying that your team is lacking in quality,

but that is very in experienced. There must be less than 100 games in there.

Didn't really think of that when I picked the back 6 tbh. Whelan could probably take Buckley or CJs spot if they were playing a team that has good small forwards eg Collingwood, Doggies

Not much has changed after 90 odd votes. I think we can now lock the top 6 defenders in now. Frawley (26 votes) and Bartram (21 votes) will be considered for the bench.

Buckley, Wheatley have been posted a number of times and recommended as players for the wing, midfield, as has Petterd, by various posters.

Personally I think Buckley has what it takes to fill in a Half back Flank role in the future. He just needs more development on his defensive side. He has the run & carry to break lines at half back which helps set up forward moves and the quick transition of the ball to the forward line. Much like the Peter and Shaun Burgoynes and Peter Matera's of the football world.

That's taken on board. Frawley was the 7th most voted defender, and has earned himself to be nominated to the interchange, and worst case emergency for the best side for next year.
