Where to play Cale..

Its an interesting topic..

I mean just where should we play this kid,

He's 6'3, quite quick, has a very good motor, but is literally as light as a feather. So where should we play him to best further his development??

I suppose it depends on what Bailey's plans for him are, is he and all out, silky out side mid-fielder, a rangy winger, a utility or perhaps as some have said in the media recently, a KPP prospect, once he adds some serious Kg's..

IMHO, I think he'll end up being an Embley type utility, but with more regular stints in the midfield..

He has good poise, not bad off the mark, and actually has good hands above his head, which is something we are seriously lacking.

it may seem trivial, but its important the club plays this right, and I have every confidence they well.

Im sure he will come back into the seniors after the break, which im happy with, he needed a break, especially with his body type.

It'll be very intruiging to watch what happens with his development for the remainder of the year, and throughout next pre-season..!! One thing is certain though,

Cale is going to be a player, and I cant wait till he starts tearing games apart, HOPEFULLY BY 2010!!!

I really enjoy watching the way he moves, and with confidence, im sure his sometimes wayward foot skills will be perfected!

With Jack Grimes due back soon, Maric getting fitter, Garland being Garland, Nate still with alot of improvement left in him, and the much maligned Frawley taking shape, PJ and Mclean becoming more consistent, Dunn finding a role, Martin showing promise down back, and Bater looking a real star, its the most exciting batch of kids weve had since early 90's..

Im genuinely excited about this crop, it could be really special..

Lets just see WHAT Cale ends up!

Wasn't it Y_M who proposed him as a CHF? I know apparently Cale came out early on and said he'd like to play there.

At first I dismissed it, but the longer I go the more I reckon with some size he could make a fist of it. Would need to be Murphy like with his engine, mark and kick... but he has the bear bones.... if not the flesh on top of them!

Honestly though? Probably will be the player we look to to fill in the gaps... floating around half-back rebounding... On the wing running like a nutter... Playing a Matty Bate-type role... I reckon the only place we WON'T see him play is deep at either end. But hey, even there, you may see him drift deep towards the end of his career.

I hope he ends up a CHF!!

He is too good a talent to end up a bits & pieces player..

Ben Casanelia said in pre-season he is a great KPP prospect, but who knows, he could become a genuine wingman..

Well ive actually been told from a mate hes now 194cm..

But, with 10-15 kgs to his frame, CHF is a real option, as he has a big motor, sure hands and acceleration!

But to put that 10-15 Kgs on would take him 2 years. Between now and them his likely to find a more mobile position home.

Of course it will,

Thats the point! he'll play a utility role until he develops, 2 years, thats normal!

Yeah, sounds good mate.

So til then - Forward Flank/Winger who has spells in the Midfield?

that seems about right...

if he gets the size about him, that's an if, we can then look at him playing as a key forward... would be great for the club if he develops in that direction...

I think a stint in the forward line wouldn't hurt...

Look at Brad Green and Cam Bruce when they started, they were pretty skinny too, he just needs a bit more size and confidence I reckon and he'll make for a very handy midfielder a couple years down the track.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
