The player shouldn't be making the play shouldn't be penalised. The umpires got the holding the ball calls right, 100%. Too bad they didn't umpire like this earlier in the season where we were getting tackled left, right and centre.

Rest of the umpiring was nothing special, just average. But definately a step in the right direction as umpires love to ping blokes for holding the ball, and do it far too often, penalising the player trying to get the footy.

they love to have that pause, then they slowly pass their hands by their knees, increasing the speed they move their arms as they go through the motion...

Our tackling was consistently rewarded in that it prevented the ball moving towards the oppositions goal, and often stripped the opposition of possession.

Why should a tackle necessitate a free kick? Should you also get a free kick for manning-up, or laying a shepherd, or winning a hit-out?

On two occasions Collingwood players were tackled and dropped the ball in attempting to kick it. These incidents were unrewarded (I noticed Collingwood did get a couple).

Also a push in the back is always a push in the back, but kudos to Didak for probably realising he would get away with it deep in the pocket (first goal)

thems the rules carnthedees. the game isn't 'let it run until it gets locked in or someone takes a mark'. it is essentially a game of keepings off. if you have the ball and are caught the opposition are entitled to the ball. tackling should e rewarded. it isnt because it means players will have to rush disposal out rather than spin 720 looking for a team maet so that play can continue nicely. and the afl likes it to all look nice.

I couldn't agree more Deanox, and the number of occassions, especially in the first quarter where we laid super tackles, after they had an opportunity to get rid of the ball and play was called made me want to vommit! Such a simple rule, and it wasn't being paid, and it was all one way traffic whom these calls were benefitting.

Doesn't that mean everytime Didak is tackled automatic free kick to opposition? Everyone knows he is a retard.

umpiring was very good..... sure didak was lucky for the first goal. but it was touch and go....

my main problem still lies with the holding the ball decision/incorrect disposal it very touch n go,

between nathan jones gettin penalised and josh fraser not getting penalised i wouldnt mind seeing these two again

also daniel bells dont argue... i think the player should have a right to push off a tackle, it may have been high but it was not open fist and no elbow. i guess fingers in the eye is a problem. i would like to see the replay on that one to
