This is the first game he has had an impact on the game. I have no doubt he worked hard in the other games. Notwithstanding his age, he has done it tough this year and has battled to keep his head above water.

What do you consider having an impact on the game?

12th in the league in contested possessions? 5th in the league for disposals? 17th in the league in first possessions? 6th in the league for clearances?

Why is it so difficult for you to say anything truly positive about anyone who plays for our club? It won't make you seem soft you know :rolleyes:

Just accept that he's having a good season, but that no matter how well he's playing, he cannot win games on his own. Yesterday he finally received the support of 21 other players and we won. No player is capable of beating a team of 22 on their own, and to expect that is completely unrealistic.

By the way, for someone who struggles with a tag, Brock's not really having trouble finding the ball is he?

Judd at WC, Murphy at Carlton, Stanton at the Dons . . .

Anyway, regardless of that he has to learn to deal with a tag or else every week you'll be saying "tagged out again" in the 3 word review every week

Out of those three you just mentioned, Judd is the only one who you can say actually can shake a tag and he is considered an all time great, so i am not sure what you point is there.

Are you just pointing that there are other 22 year old who get the No.1 tag? Or are you trying to say others get the tag and still perform, so Brock should too?

I've watched Stanton very closely as he's in my SC/DT and he's struggled to be effective being numero uno. Brock has definitely outplayed him.

Marc Murphy's had a slashing year but Judd and Stevens have being one and 2. How did he go last year as number one.

Brock has being solid to excellent for most of the year. Brock, Jones need support. Jmac has to an extent but not too many reliable sources after that.

The second half v Geelong is one example that suggests McLean needs to learn how to beat a tag - there were many examples last year. This week shows that this is an issue for Jones too. At other Clubs these guys might not be getting a tag at their age/experience level, and while they have time to learn how to cope with a tag, TJ struggled all career. As individuals, and a team, our midfielders need to learn how to play while being tagged.

Eastie Boyz was not arguing that they performed while tagging, simply replying to bjc, who said that no one else of McLean's age gets the #1 tag...

I still think his lack of both speed and awareness is a huge problem. Obviously he is a very good player, but if he cannot improve those two key deficiencies in his game he is never going to be the superstar we all thought he might become. He also might become a worthwhile trade.

In other news, I heard a whisper at the game that Lynden Dunn is extremely unhappy at the Melbourne FC and will ask to be traded at the end of the year or go into the preseason draft. Apparently his contract expires at years end. I heard this only as a rumour and it holds no credence with me, however I thought I would put it out there to find out if anyone else has heard anything similar. I for one am a huge fan of his and believe he will be our best player in a couple of years.

What was your source? Did they suggest reasons for his unhappiness?

I don't think he's going to be a superstar, but it'd be disappointing to lose him (for nothing).

    REDEEMING by Meggs

    It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval.     With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.
