Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Lewis Giving It Everything in 2019

This is not "ultimate professional" behaviour.  This is undisciplined arrogance.

Hawthorn have won 13 premierships in 50 years by being arrogant.  Hawthorns leaders like Matthews, Scott, Brereton, Dipper, Lewis, Hodge etc all got suspended, all gave away 50m penalties, all could be called undisciplined.  I’m happy to take the occasional “undisciplined act” to get some of that  culture into Melbourne, and hope Lewis gets his 5th flag.  Even if he doesn’t,  he is sure helping by turning up in peak condition and showing the list what it takes to take the next step.

The obvious reason he decked Cripps was that Cripps was killing us and Carlton were threatening to run over the top of us. Cripps was being a cocky little punt and Lewis reminded him he was playing AFL against a tough demon outfit.

Did he go to far ... yes. Did that win us the game ... most likely

I also remember Jordie mentioning that there was some stuff going on under the packs that needed to be rectified.

There is a reason why Dermie made that 'gentleman's club' comment last year after the Geelong game  (though his target was wrong as Bernie had never fit the mould of the Melbourne Club attending public school boy). We are so obsessed in how others view us but aren't interested in getting the job done.

I always go back to our reaction to Essendon intimidation in the 2000 Grand Final and their reaction to it in the Line in the Sand game. See which response brought about a better club culture.

I have been a harsh critic and still am of Lewis but he was much better last year than I expected.  But calling him an "ultimate professional" is the sort of statement that turns my stomach.  He is grossly undisciplined on field probably costing us a finals position in his first year because for some unknown reason he decked Cripps 30 meters off the ball causing him to miss 3 weeks including a 4 point loss to Freo.

Last year he followed up by giving away a 50m penalty against Geelong in the first game costing a goal and the game.  Why?  Arguing with the umpire.

This is not "ultimate professional" behaviour.  This is undisciplined arrogance.  He is an enigma because he does a lot right but also has glaring weaknesses. It will be interesting to see when the footy department think the benefits no longer outweigh the weaknesses.

Whatever Lewis' failings he has the mindset of a winner.

Has he imparted that to the team? I am not in the inner sanctum and neither are you anymore.

These are the intangibles that outsiders cannot judge.

He could yet be a key reason we win a flag.

boy there is some negativity here

no one in the VFL side last year took his place and everyone knew it was up for grabs.

Let's see if one of them can take it this year. Personally I think his dedication etc is what we have been missing for twenty odd years if not more.

It seems that although he was involved in the winning of 4 premierships at Whoreform, and is working away at getting another gong as a leader and participant at the MFC, Jordan does appear to be a total Demon convert who ignores his historically glorious past for a very enthusiastic dip with our new Club, young players and the whole MFC experience - and culture; this reminds me of the sentiments and supporting behaviours of Paul Roos. It is about time that we had broader commitment of this nature - we must be doing something correct in the eyes of several past champions.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
