Roger Mellie replied to Satyriconhome's topic in Melbourne Demons
I like the sound of the INS if it pans out that way -
The thought of Strauss on someone like Breust makes me feel ill

He's one of the few players that has some decent run. He'll stay on the list until someone with better ball use and decision making (as well as run) pushes him out

Players to target at the end of the year
Roger Mellie replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
Disagree - Kennedy was a young developing KPF. Carlton didn't want to lose him but had to, to secure Judd and Kennedy didn't want to leave Carlton at the time. He was not a massive disappointment by any stretch of the imagination. -
Demonland Player of the Year - Round 19
Roger Mellie replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I watched Bail today and clearly you're a fan, Fan and I'm not. IMO he had 3 effective disposals (that I saw) and for the most part, made poor decisions, had ordinary disposal and took the second and inevitably wrong option. If he took the first option, we might see a different player. They were the negatives, the positives were the tackling, pressure and he kicked a nice goal (from a free). Not in my votes. -
Players to target at the end of the year
Roger Mellie replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
I watched Toiges v GWS and watched Plowman closely. Admittedly, only the third time I've seen him play but I don't see what the fuss is about. Reminds me a little of Chris Lamb Rather Shiel and/or a host of others -
How was Michie's defensive game?

Has our next coach already been chosen?
Roger Mellie replied to Dees2014's topic in Melbourne Demons
While the combo sounds good (with Roos til 2016) can we afford that? Yes, yes got to spend money to make money, but we're on pretty shakey ground ATM and Bomba wouldn't be far away from Roos' coin -
I saw it and didn't think there was much in it. Might get a reprimand

Not only that, he called Jamar forward as the target and kicked it to where he had run from, straight into the arms of a port [censored]. Grrr

Not sure if you've picked up on this, but we have had 100% staff turnover on development coaches (2014) and fitness staff (2012). Why are you tarring them with the same brush? Why are you so certain that these new staff cant handle skinny kids? JKH is a skinny kid and Salem is hardly packing guns, but I'm happy to hold on to them.

Talking about frequency over severity and yes Bail has had both. Back to the context, IMO (and one more time IMO) Tapscott has had a lot of knocks

Not much of a tank, a bit slow and very good at running straight into an elbow. Not sure if I've seen a player get concussed (or at least seeing a few stars) as much as Tapscott. Often doesn't come off either so runs around half dazed. He seems to have the rest of the tools (tough! and a good kick) so I'd like to see him get a good crack at it. The 2 x 30 plus possessions at Casey is a great start.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BILLY STRETCH
Roger Mellie replied to e25's topic in Melbourne Demons
I dont advocate that it was all about poor recruitment at all. It was not the point of the post. Rather, was purely an objection of sorts to posters continually lumping recruiters together as if they were all the same and that further, that we have some perverse predisposition to drafting runts. I think Taylor's done a great job so far but it will take a while to see results - so far so good. He should be judged on his successes and failures, not Cameron's or BP's. I also expect him (Taylor) to have the odd miss as well as all recruiters do. It's a great start and hopefully he'll have way more hits than misses. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BILLY STRETCH

Our current recruiting manager is Jason Taylor. His fingerprints are all over Salem, Tyson, JKH, Riley, Georgiou and the other rookies. I find it surprising (even astounding) that posters find it difficult to separate one recruiter from the next. Taylor didn't recruit Morton, nor for that matter Hogan. Why are you (Fence and others) so quick to lump him in the same basket as our former questionable recruiters - as though he's on some mission to assemble soft runts! I don't get it. I'm pretty happy with the return so far and it's only year one. Let him make his mark! -
Takk (jeg tenker)

Potential future at Melbourne University
Roger Mellie replied to Axis of Bob's topic in Melbourne Demons
Cant see any tangible benefits to this move. Melb Uni are a bureaucratic nightmare. The facilities would require significant investment and they are not easily accessible by anything other than tram from the CBD or Brunswick/Coburg/Carlton. IMHO most students would be unaware of an oval within Melbourne Uni. Just my 2 cents worth -

Dear fellow Demon, I'm off the coast of Bergen, Norway coming to you live via satellite. There are good and bad points about being here. The good - I missed the bulldogs game, it's summer, it's 10.30 pm and broad daylight. The bad - it's summer (10 degrees), it's 10.30pm and broad daylight. It got me thinking - where do demon supporters chime in from when perusing the pages? We keep hearing here and there where posters are but I thought it would be nice to hear where you are if not in Melbourne. So if you're from Ballarat or Bucharest, please let us know where you are even if you rarely, if ever post. Over to you:

I successfully converted a bomber supporting mate after Sunday. It cost me a 3 game membership (paid for yesterday) but the transition is complete. Go Dees!
