Mark Maclure "Soft Culture" Comments
When I get a minute I want to look at our starting 22 for the two losses against Freo and Sydney last season compared to our starting 22 for the Geelong and Hawthorn finals in 2018. May only joined us at the end of 2018, Lever missed through injury (from memory) Petracca only started dominating last season. In short our talent has improved but our culture hasnât. Whats behind the Saints rapid rise? 2018 Saints 16th, Deeâs win 2 finals Ratten appointed Saints coach. 2019 Saints 14th, Dees 17th End of 2019 Saints trade in Hill, Howard, Ryder, Jones and Butler. 2020 Saints 6th win a final, Dees 9th Ive used the Saints as an example because they have managed to turn it around in two seasons. They have some talented players but I wouldnât say theyâre an overly skilled side. Ratten has brought a culture and gameplan that their players have seemingly bought into. I just looked at the Saints best 22 for this year, I personally think if both lists are fit, player for player we have the better list.

Youâre not Robinson Crueso there.

In 2020 did we have enough skill to win the premiership? no we didnât. But did we have enough skill to beat Freo and Sydney, yes we did. When the Hawks threepeated they came to play for the big games but on a few occasions when playing a weaker side they would get jumped early and even be down at qtr time only to get a spray from their coach, then their leaders would step up and theyâd go on to win by over ten goals. We get jumped by a weaker side and go on to lose, our leaders went missing last year when everyone knew what needed to happen in order to play finals. We may have been bundled straight out but it still would have been a great experience for some of our players.

Now yes, but they had their chances.

Respectfully couldnât disagree more Sue, case in point GWS.

I would argue the Swans had a fair go of disproving that. They werenât unskilled but they definitely werenât the most talented either.

So was it skill or culture for the back to back losses that ultimately cost us finals last year?

Max Gawn Extends Until 2025
When Geelong won three flags in five years there were lots of player interviews at the time where players talked about capping their potential earnings in order to keep the core group together, for some reason 500k comes to mind. I donât remember reading/hearing anything about the Hawks. Richmond seems to have Riewoldt, Lynch, Cotchin and Dusty on big coin then daylight second. They also had Rance who reportedly signed a massive deal before walking away from the game. Both models work in terms of list management whilst in the mist of a dynasty. Do we honestly think Oliver and Petracca will sign four to five year deals for 500k when they are both worth so much more. After the contract to Brown, Viney, Gawn and Lever who do we you think is going to miss out? We need to remember that also coming out of contract this year is Jetta and Hibberd with TMac and Melksham in 2022. Thereâs a lot of money tied up in those four that is going to be freed up.

Max Gawn Extends Until 2025
I think this year we will see the best of Lever. We know heâs not a key defender so Iâm not sure why you referenced that? We may have initially payed overs for him to get him here but Iâd like to think his new contract is more modest. The role he plays has itâs place and if played right can be quite effective. Out of interest which key defenders across the league have elite disposal?

Lever mightâve peaked?

Is that what the Richmond model looks like?

2021 Herald Sun Predictions
Yes he probably would be but I like to think we could comfortably put all of last years bottom six away.

2021 Herald Sun Predictions
Sorry, North. Neil Crompton feared my bet might jinx us. I listed lasted seasons bottom six teams as I canât see North beating any of them, hence the bet.

2021 Herald Sun Predictions
Bottom 6 teams of last year were Bombers, Suns, Hawks, Swans, Crows and North, going to be to interesting . Should we lose to them, that alone would nearly be the end of Goodwin.

2021 Herald Sun Predictions
Iâm going to put $100 on North not winning a game for the year. Thereâs no market as yet but when I ring up theyâll give me one. I canât see whoâll theyâll beat. I know itâs never happened before but thereâs a first time for everything.

Currently paying $6.50 on Sportsbet.

Jake Lever Extends Until End of 2024
Heâs had his payday and would be aware of that, weâve had years to plan Oliver and Petracca.
- Best 22? / Next 22??

Calls to Swap our Rd 01 Game to Marvel
Essendonâs game could be at the G on Saturday night and itâs scheduled time of 19:45, our game would not have to be affected. But as earlier mentioned it sets a dangerous precedent, so stuff them.

Who gets to go to Round 1?
And today this from the club.... âJoin one of our premium match day experiences + guarantee your spot at the MCG when footy returns to the MCGâ That was followed by two comments, both from members, one along the lines off âhow about looking after the faithful that have stuck by this club firstâ. I did screenshot it at the time because FB has a history of when I go out and come back in everything is shuffled around, but I couldnât find it even by going to the clubs page, so maybe it was an add. The club clearly is more interested in targeting its wealthier members to make more money. Iâm still waiting for my correct membership card to arrive, Iâve already rang up once and will be ringing up again today.

Who gets to go to Round 1?
I agee but Iâm just highlighting the stupidity of it all, for me itâs all or nothing. Today Gladys (who with the exception of the Ruby Princess disaster) has done a good job) has announced up to two hundred people are allowed at weddings but only thirty can be on the dance floor. Itâs just stupid....

Who gets to go to Round 1?
Iâm pretty sure it was the NSW Premier being interviewed before the SCG test match versus India a few months ago. She was being asked to justify the expected crowd numbers whilst other restrictions were still in place around the state. She went on to say that they had protocols in place to ensure social distancing. Then a reporter asked what happens when multiple patrons touch the same turnstile, the same handrail, the same door, the same tap. If Melbourne can get back to no cases for the month leading into rd one then open it back up to full capacity and letâs get on with it.

Demon Shop
I donât but as for the âscarf is ok wearersâ, the amount of times Iâve sat in the Redlegs and as the goals pile on against us and another loss is inevitable they (the men) take off their scarfs, fold them up and give them to their wifeâs to put into their handbags. The stairwell behind the level 2 members area is another popular spot for this behaviour.
