  1. It’s funny, when I fly to Melbourne for games my wife and I will go out for lunch / dinner at a restaurant then drinks at a pub before the games starts and because we’re staying in the city we have the luxury of the Melbourne tram network. When attending the SCG we drive in, the public transport is not as user friendly as Melbourne’s in terms of convenience. No trains to the ground only buses, not sure if the recently upgraded tram network goes there. So we park close by and walk straight to the ground. @hardtack or @Sydee may be able to shed some light on this for you.
  2. 2023 Points against 1st St.Kilda 1575 2nd Carlton 1592 3rd Melbourne 1604 4th Collingwood 1656 2022 Points against 1st Melbourne 1483 2nd Fremantle 1486 3rd Geelong 1488 4th Sydney 1616 2021 Points against 1st Melbourne 1443 2nd Geelong 1456 3rd Port Adelaide 1492 4th Western Bulldogs 1501 We’ve been the best defensive side over the last 3 year, our problems lie forward of centre. I think we’re at our best defensively when we play 2 talls plus Lever. Our entries inside fwd 50, lack of separation, goal kicking inaccuracy and at times players out of position (lost count of how many times when kicking to a marking fwd there’s not a crumbing fwd in 20 metres of the contest) has cost us. Fritsch is a gun, great mark, set shot and can prove to be a difficult match up. I’m interested to see what McAdam brings, and hopefully Petty gets back to full fitness quickly. Ultimately we need to take more risks and back our fwds in, quicker more direct ball movement. I think I read in a recent training report that Bowey was delivering the ball inside 50, I would to see us make some changes do we don’t repeat past mistakes.
  3. You’re better of buying tickets and getting decent seats, the bay allocated is in the pocket and viewing is restricted as the ground has a massive crown. I sat there rd 24 last year, never again. Was better of watching it at home on tv.
  4. Random question, hoping someone can help. Was 2020 the last year that members got lanyards with their membership cards? I ask because I was just going through all of old membership stuff, I’m thinking during Covid they tried introducing the digital membership hence no lanyard but not 100% sure. Thanks
  5. It is, but I think we can win our first 3, losing our next 3 would be a disaster. The short break between Port and the Crows is going to be tough. I’d take a win against Port, with potentially a few rotations against the Crows. Lions will be massive, up until the finals of 2022 we owned them for a few years, regardless of where we played them. I’d be very disappointed if we can’t get over Richmond and Geelong.
  6. Nightmare of a fixture for interstate members looking to attend games at the G in the first 12 rounds. Would love to attend the Lions / Carlton games but having recently changed companies going to be tough to take two days off. Looks like Geelong is the pick of the bunch, luckily already got good seats to our first game.
  7. My point is, Petty’s current wage plus 625k from Grundy plus Harmes, Hibbo, JJ (not on much I’m guessing, pending retirement of BBB and TMac. I can’t see why we can’t offer enough to retain Petty and chase a free agent on big dollars. The 3 recruits are on base wage for the first 2/3 years.
  8. Anyone care to guess how much we were paying Grundy and who that money is being spent on now if anyone? Or are we not maxed out this year?
  9. I don’t think we have the luxury of waiting until his contract is up. I believe we need to be proactive this year and scrap his current contract and give him a new one. Some may argue he needs to show more as a fwd, but just on his ability alone as a key defender he can command 7-800K in the open market (look at Ben McKay). If he can dominate as a key fwd then we’re at his mercy.
  10. He’s a gun defender and I think it was you (apologies if not) that said he’s a ready made replacement for May (and I agree) and if he has an extended run up fwd and continues his form from late last season we as a club would be with in our rights to offer him around the 7-8 hundred thousand mark. Not sure he’s at the million per season mark yet, he’d have to kick 60 this upcoming season for mine.
  11. Perry’s been on the list for 5 years already? So is this family thing just new because of the Crows and an upcoming contract or was it raised from he was first drafted and the clubs done nothing?
  12. If Petty was playing for the Crows how many games would his parents / family travel to Adelaide for to watch him play. Considering 6 hours each way plus breaks essentially makes it a days travel each way. Would they make the trip for every home game plus finals or just the big games plus finals. All speculative I know. Surely the club can be proactive in communicating with his family and arrange for them to make the trip for Gather Rd as well as blockbuster matches such as Anzac Eve, Kings Birthday and when we play the Lions. I’m not sure how much the club can do in terms of flights / motels for family’s before it’s looked at by the AFL. Family may be put fwd as motivation, but it’s also a great leverage tool. Money talks, hopefully he stays.
  13. He’s contracted for 2024/25, why wouldn’t we be able to offer him a new contract effectively upping his current salary for next season in the process considering our position. What were we paying Grundy? Plus surely Brown and TMac retire at the end of the season.
  14. Petracca, Gawn, Fritsch and May all more important than Brayshaw IMO.
  15. Quick ball movement to an uncluttered fwd line and practice goal kicking. We threw the flag away last season.
  16. After going rd 23 last year and using the free seats provided by the club I decided to purchase tickets this year. Got behind the goals on the top level which looks to the equivalent of level 2 at the MCG. Not excited just yet, still flat after last years finals.
  17. Was just watching the draft version of gettable, they were speaking with Adelaide’s recruiter. They mention Adelaide has used a lot of first rd draft picks at the draft in recent years and asked if that would continue next year, the response was we’ll have to wait and see (what Petty does). Then he referenced Joel Selwood who went at pick 7 in 2006 when asked about selecting for needs v best available. I had to double check but their first pick wasn’t until 14 so he may of been referring to pick 2 Essendon : Scott Gumbleton or pick 4 lions : Mathew Leuenbeger.
  18. Some earlier comments regarding uncertainty over Petty should push us towards selecting Curtin. Petty should line up at CHF for us next year, but what about May, how many years does he have left?
  19. Hey, we still got the McLelland trophy…. Wasted year from both sides.
  20. Who are currently Norths tall defenders? For a young team rebuilding they’d be stupid to pass on curtain.
  21. I read this yesterday, what I found interesting was that many on here were waiting for Cal Twomey’s draft and he has Curtin going at 10 to Geelong.
