Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 6
Bombay Airconditioning replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
For all the Watts lovers, it was once unthinkable that Grimes was not best 22, but look how that turned out and we're not looking back and I don't hear too many complaints. -
Eddie threatens to quit over equalisation proposals

So it's cool to bag Eddie? No I don't agree with everything he says but I admire what he's been able to achieve. Do people forget when he was hosting the footy show and found the Bulldogs a major sponsor when they were struggling? Eddie's not always about Eddie. -

We get QB as our home game every year, why is that the case since Collingwood account for over half the crowd. On Anzac Day the gate takings are split each year or alternated which is basically the same. Considering how badly we've performed over recent years were lucky to still have it. We know we have ourselves to blame in terms of the fixture. I thought this year was the introduction of the top 6, Middle 6 and bottom 6. But looking at the draw I'm not sure that's the case as we play Collingwood and Freo twice. -

Is t the fixture now in 3 groups of six?And for the last time, every Victoria club requests to play the Pies as their home game. How about we start giving up QB every second year? -

Again, why didn't he give the captaincy up when Trenners did? -

And if the captaincy was such a burden why didn't he give it up when Trenners did? The answer isn't he's not a quitter. It seems as if it was taken from him because you can't have your co captain playing in the two's. -

Yes Grimes was made captain to early but this does not account in any way for his poor disposal. Have we considered we overrated him to start with? He had a crack, didn't work out, time to go. -

If and when he's finally dropped, well he's had his chances. -

Grimes out again = career over at the MFC. Realistically what we get for him, 3rd rounder? -

I don't think we will truly know until he gets to show his wares in the seniors. -

What's scary is on average the last 4-5 years we've cleared out 11 players a year and how much garbage still remains on our list. I thought Dunn was brilliant last year(dropped off a little towards the end of the season). To be honest I've only been able to watch two games this year due to work commitments and living in Sydney, in those I thought he's been ok, but yeah not where he was at last year. I think as a whole were fighting it out more as a team. A back six I had in one of my early teams before the season started went something like JETTA FROST DUNN SALEM TMAC TOUMPAS That is still a possibility for next year. -
I thought Roos said a couple of weeks ago that Jetta had sufferers a couple of knocks over a short timeframe.
-
So we give him until the end of next season?

Post Match Discussion - Round 5

I agree with all that, who have we let go in the past couple of seasons that we've come to regret? Stef Martin, that's about it. Yes some were high draft picks, we stuffed up its time to move on. -

Didnt see the game, haven't had time to read gameday thread yet so serious question.....JKH, what happened? -
They will keep the season opener but don't deserve any Friday night action.
-
Yeah to be fair we didn't finish the year well and knew about the Bulldogs after the exodus.
-
They have a lot of good kids, plus a few who haven't played. The win over the Bombers took most by surprise but wins over Saints/lions/Carlton aren't an accurate gauge. Next week interesting vs Geelong. A team on the way up v one on the way down.
-
True but when Geelong beat Richmond the focus will turn.
-
No leadership from Carlton. The simplest of errors.
-
Yep, they've got Geelong, Richmond, GC, North then us. North will give them a physical game if nothing else then they ours for the taking. Viney and Jetta will be back and barring no further injuries were a massive chance.

Not based tonight's game he's not. Long way off his best. Micks got the record now it's time to go, clearly not working.
