A Day at the Races
The field legs certainly provided some value Macca. It’s a method I’ve used before and managed to get a few collects on quaddies. Nothing huge though. Aristia never crossed my mind even though it was the second pick. Live and learn indeed, it’s worth it even for the smaller percentage. Bleu Roche was tough in the win, managed to watch the race on one of my breaks. El Magnificence running at Flemington Saturday, up against one of our previous bests in ‘Eurack’. You never know, currently $19.

Pass Mark 2019
I came across an article by Sarah Olle from Fox Sports about team benchmarks for the upcoming season. We all know clubs need luck on the injury front and sometimes a season doesn’t always go to plan for one reason or another. With a fit and healthy list we are more than capable of making the preliminary final again despite a challenging fixture in my opinion. Sarah won’t be the only person in the media expecting us to be a genuine premiership contender in 2019. Personally, I feel Sarah’s pass mark is a bit high. I’m interested to read members’ benchmarks on here for 2019 and this discussion is not intented about Goodwin walking should we finish 8th. Mods, please feel free to merge if this has been covered elsewhere. MELBOURNE AFTER years of hell, the Demons are not only back to being relevant, but a genuine premiership contender. And after winning two finals in 2018 the club is on track to go one better and make the Grand Final. While the Demons lost Jesse Hogan to Fremantle, they added star defender Steven May (Gold Coast) to their list. Plus Jake Lever will be ready to go, after recovering from an ACL injury. There’s plenty of reason to get excited if you’re a Melbourne fan — and 2019 could be the drought breaking year. Pass mark: Second or higher

We’re going to win the Flag next year - what do you do when we do?
If we do get there and it’s as close as this year’s GF, how many can say they will make it to the end of the game?

A Day at the Races
Quinella paid ok Wadda. Cross Counter was last at one stage. It was a good day here with family, food and drinks. Had a win on Cross Counter and the day could have been better if we didn’t miss the last leg of the quaddie. We ran second and third in the final leg. The approximates were around 10k for those picks and we had a decent percentage of it, but like you said, we can’t complain. Yes, Godolphin’s first.

Thanks, went looking for the article. Long ban. McEvoy also fined $3000 for using the whip four more times than the permitted amount in the last 400m on Cross Counter. I wonder if he’ll go on a payment plan.

A Day at the Races
Haha Macca, they tried the old pattern of making the pace today to no avail. Poor old Tom, broken horse from all those past seconds.

A Day at the Races
He doesn’t have the colours but Tom Melbourne in the next is overdue for some success and a change of luck. Last won in March of 2016.

Nice Gorg, all I got back was a bonus bet for running 3rd. Tip for the Cup?

NFL
Yep....and the last second missed field goal for the game by Denver gives us points in the tips Layzie. ?

A Day at the Races
Marmello did run last year Wadda. I was on it then. It wasn’t a very good ride, the jock took the horse to the front too early. Connections said they will ride the horse a bit quieter this year. It ran a cracking race in last year’s Caulfield Cup. The horse seems to be in good form, can it win? Not so sure but it should be in the mix for a top 4 finish imo.

A Day at the Races
In my opinion, yes Gorg. Usually I can find one that stands out to me each year but it’s a struggle this time around. The horse I’ll choose won’t be with much confidence, will probably box a few horses for the exotics and hope for the best. I also can’t recall the last time we had a shortish favourite around $5 two days out. I’m a bit surprised at Yucatan’s odds but it did win extremely well last start although the final margin doesn’t really reflect the performance.

A Day at the Races
The TAB comments on the Melbourne Cup runners from today make for interesting reading especially on the part of the fancied runners. It’s fair to say the author is probably still recovering from Derby Day drinks. 1. Best Solution - Market guide only 2. The Cliffsofmoher - Prefer others 3. Magic Circle - Need to improve 4. Chestnut Coat - Prefer others 5. Muntahaa - Not fancied 6. Sound Check - Have to improve 7. Who Shot TheBarman- Not good enough 8. Ace High - Lacks appeal 9. Marmello - Tested here 10. Avilius - Hard task here 11. Yucatan - Place hope only 12. Auvray - Need to improve 13. Finche - Place hope only 14. Red Cardinal - Place hopes best 15. Vengeur Masque - Place hopes best 16. Ventura Storm - Hard task here 17. A Prince Of Arran - Cannot recommend 18. Nakeeta - Place best 19. Sir Charles Road - Outclassed 20. Zacada - Safely held 21. Runaway - Safely held 22. Youngstar - Prefer the place 23. Cross Counter - Faces tough task 24. Rostropovich - Outclassed

A Day at the Races
Enable became the first Arc winner to salute in the Breeders’ Cup overnight. One serious racehorse, would love to see her race here.

A Day at the Races
I’m cheering for Magic Circle just to see Marwan Koukash parade around in a G-String like he promised should the horse win. One has to enjoy these colourful characters. Seriously tough field.

A Day at the Races
No good Wadda, held up and the jockey decided to try and find room on the outside. The eventual winner ‘ Shillelagh’ got the magical run through the inside for a very good win. Funnily enough that run could have been gained by Amphitrite if the jock didn’t leave the rails.

A Day at the Races
Yes Wadda, you will be seeing it soon in Naples.

A Day at the Races
Oh come on! The photo finish power has gone out.....there are plenty of IPhones on the track that can substitute.

A Day at the Races
I’m enjoying the Channel 7 telecast mainly due to ‘ Cesca’ Cumani. Then, day ruined when they interviewed Dyson Heppell. Melbourne Cup hopefuls in the next.

2019 Ladder Predictions
Connar from The Roar has us finishing 5th and losing to Hawthorn in the elimination. Has Port and Essendon making the prelims. Connar is entitled to an opinion of course. Port in a prelim?? Not for me. https://apple.news/A782qvsoKQcyALXP3Dba_gA

A Day at the Races
Nothing tonight Macca. I was told at work today to look out for Flemington Race 1 Number 4 Quackerjack tomorrow. Decent odds of around $14. Barrier could be tricky though but it’s worth a small each way bet to set up the day should it salute.
