I’d like to see a ‘Demon Decibel’ metre by Channel 7 tomorrow night, like the Toiges had in their prelim last year.

Going early with the ‘ Best Bet’ fellas. Busy couple of days coming up. Mooney Valley Race 1 Number 2 : Naantali TAB Odds: $2.60 An update on Santos. Decided not run the horse in a hot field first up. Santos had an exhibition gallop against Siege Of Quebec in between races last week at Randwick. He did finish about a head behind the other runner but his last 600m was faster than Redzel’s on the day. I believe they have changed their strategy on how to attack the Spring.

Match Preview and Team Selection - Elimination Final
Dee Zephyr replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
For some reason I’ve felt more relaxed the last two weeks than I have all season and this a knockout game. I have no idea what it’s telling me, it could all change when the teams get announced tonight. Maybe the bye has helped in that regard. -
Key tactical issues v Geelong

David King highlighted Gawn’s positioning in the defensive half on 360 last night. Labelled Max as our Jeremy McGovern. It’s been forcing teams to try high risk passes exiting their defensive 50 due to Max protecting the skinny side of the ground extremely well. Suggested move was to have some one run with Max all day to not allow him to play that role. I don’t know much about Abbott, Stanley is in serious doubt and Smith hasn’t been setting the world on fire from all reports. The logical option would be Blicavs if this was to happen but that could work in our favour if he’s taken out of defence. It will be interesting to see what Goody and Co come up with if the Cats place some one to run with Max. Slobbo also believes Max is the best ruckman since Simon Madden. -
Apologies if it sounds negative, wasn’t my intention. More than happy for mods to merge or delete.

After what seems like forever, Friday night is nearly upon us and I’m sure most Demonlanders have been approached by non -MFC friends, work colleagues or family about our appearance in this year’s finals series. Plenty of nice comments have come our way and some are genuinely excited and happy for us. I’d like to hear some comments that made you bite your tongue. Today, I had to bite my tongue when a Hawthorn supporter at work approached me saying that history shows the Melbourne Football Club has no history.??

Tom Lynch, free agency and equalization
Dee Zephyr replied to biggestred's topic in Melbourne Demons
Paul Marsh was on SEN about a month ago talking about free agency. According to him it wasn’t brought in as an equalisation measure. https://www.sen.com.au/news/2018/07/24/free-agency-disaster-talk-an-overreaction-says-aflpa -
Hmmm....no Santos again. The issue must be lingering, still shaping up as a very good race. Quality fields assembled in Melbourne and Sydney.

✔️✔️ Not even 24 hours later and former players hitting back with venom. Friday night can’t come quick enough. -
There’s room for plenty on mine if we win.

Picking through the bones of 12 years of Misery

The last few minutes of that video gave me goosebumps. Brilliant and thanks for sharing. -
Liking the odds for Santos. Will report back hopefully a little later in the week with any goss. Worth an each way flutter for mine and like you said Macca... definitely a race for the exotics.

Ha Ha, I pictured your reaction and it made me laugh Wadda. I posted the bet knowing the result. Reminds me of a Crown Casino punter that placed 30 large on the Crows about 10 years ago at 3 quarter time when they were up by 30 points in one match. $1.03 and yep....they got rolled.
-
I’ve never understood the idea behind these massive bets at those odds Macca. What’s the theory behind it? I mean....$700, what difference does it make? The only thing that springs to mind is the punter might be some kind of high roller that needs to keep turning over funds for rewards or benefits of some sort. Even then, TAB rewards won’t get you a flight to the Bahamas.

Good bet???? To win $700....

Did Tyson complete the full session?

Nice to have options at this time of the year. If they do bring in Smith to allow Fritsch up the ground can you see Hannan getting selected also?
-
Interestingly, Ben Guthrie’s opinion is we will bring in an extra defender in J Smith and JKH the unlucky one to miss.

Key tactical issues v Geelong
Dee Zephyr replied to Lord Neville X Flash's topic in Melbourne Demons
The key for me is scoreboard pressure and especially early in the game. In round 1, they outscored us by 37 points in a 28 minute first half patch. They did it again by outscoring us by 25 points in the last term in our recent after the siren loss. Their leaders will know they can come at us again if we don’t take our chances. I’d prefer to see their heads drop early by making the most of our forward entries rather than them hanging around like a bad smell. Our game style should hold up Friday night and we should have ample forward entries to kick a big enough score. If our recent match against them is replicated where we do lead by 3-4 goals in the second half, it will be interesting to see how Goody and Co implement a plan to not allow them back in the game.
