A Day at the Races
Agree Macca, it was a very good win. I liked the way the jockey just pushed through the field from the jump and led them up. Interesting to see where they go from here, trainer said sometimes with four year old geldings you just have to go through the grades. Wait and see I guess although I’d love the horse to get a win for mate in town. It’s been a while for them.

A Day at the Races
EL sets a new track record (57.27) at Sale. A bit short in price for my liking but pleased to see the horse get a win. It probably didn’t want another 50 metres as the second runner was closing hard. Understandable though after running a quick time. Dan Zephyr received a mention by the trainer in the post-race interview. That was a pleasant surprise, the Zeph is still in people’s thoughts.

2019 Fixture
Cheers, I thought Sunday twilight games no matter where they are played always commenced at 4:40 AEST, or is it different in the early rounds? Pretty boring looking round anyway, we’ll just have to enjoy our replay from Saturday arvo right through until Sunday night.

2019 Fixture
So the Freo v North game would be 5:20pm AEST? I hope Sunday twilights don’t change from the already horrible time slot of 4:40

2019 Fixture
It could be just me but it doesn’t seem an exciting opening round overall for the neutral unless Dylan Shiel receives a hostile reception at Spotless, highly doubtful though. Was hoping for a ‘bigger’ opener for us, oh well. Welcome back Jack(s).

A Day at the Races
G’day Macca. There’s a strong chance the horse will be scratched tomorrow. They will go like last week’s pay in this 955m dash and being drawn in the middle might present some difficulties in terms of where to settle the horse. Not an ideal first-up race. Too much pressure I believe. ‘El’ has also accepted at Sale in the last race on Sunday. This presents a better first-up assignment, less pressure and a bigger track. Prize money is obviously much better tomorrow night but the aim is to have him firing for the whole campaign. Edit: They weren’t expecting to make the Moonee Valley field with the low rating but when they did it would’ve generated some strong discussion for the best and most logical option.

According to the AFL site the Saints will host Port in China next year for points. Are we expecting to see a China game every year from now on? Does anyone know details of the actual agreement between the AFL and China?

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
A bit of banter between May and Lynch at a dinner the other night. From the AFL site. "We went out for dinner the other night on the Gold Coast," May said. "We were talking about the Anzac Day Eve game. He said he was looking forward to playing on me, but I said I'd probably be playing on the best forward and that's Jack Riewoldt.

Goodness me Macca, Withhold beat home 33 runners two starts ago and that run was in October last year. A field of 34 in a flat race? It’s common for the steeples, can’t say i have ever seen a field of that size on the flat. Withhold is 33rd in the ballot for the Melbourne Cup and $15 to win it.

A Day at the Races
Looks like today’s Cranbourne meeting has been postponed. Just tuned in to hear there was some kind of fall in the 4th. Higgins and Brad Rawiller the jockeys involved. Not sure the extent, but ambulances have been on the track for a while now. El Magnificence will have to wait for another day. Jockeys seem to be ok according to one of the stewards just now. Good to hear.

Go Chelsea!! Are you watching it on Optus Sport? I’m having slight trouble with the connection at the moment. Yes Macca, I was telling a guy at work this morning I had a feeling the overseas horses might dominate the spring. I placed a small tri (boxed 6) with my initial selections. With the F4 I excluded Ventura Storm, Ace High and Youngstar after I saw the drift in the market especially with the latter 2. I added Homesman after the horse was mentioned by Properdee, Duretto (hoodoo horse) and Red Verdon. My win bet was on The Cliffsofmoher, I thought he ran a terrific race too. Edit: Never mind....just realised it’s on SBS?

The Soccer thread
Was a cracker Layzie. VAR played a huge part again. Bozza was spitting chips at half time and I mean he was going ballistic, he couldn’t believe City were awarded the penalty upon review and subsequently equalised. I’m pretty sure the bloke that scored the winner did it with his first touch of the game. 40,000+ in attendance. Edit: Real Madrid 2-0 down at home to Levante just before half time. Goodness me.

Good luck Macca, I’m locked and loaded for tonight after a good day at the races. Was fortunate enough to collect on a small percentage of the F4 in the Cup thanks to everyone’s input. Just finished watching the Victory game and it was a corker. The wife ‘tipped’ me the Melb City 2-1 correct scoreline at $11. Riding the wave so to speak. It could be a long night, Chelsea about to kick off.
